hi everyone,
I am currently on lession 3 of the program. I also suffer from panic disorder and agraphobia. I am able to go places but I get very anxious while I am there. I seem to have a lot of panic symptoms. I know I need to convince myself that the program will work however I would love to hear from someone anyone who has suffered with panic disorder and agraphobia and was able to recover using this program.

Thanks.

Is agoraphobia curable without meds?

In a word... yes. Smiler

As you change your thinking patterns, the fears that keep you homebound will gradually ebb away. And with those gone, well, you'll find there's nothing keeping you in the house Big Grin

Personally, I used to have multiple panic attacks daily. My activities outside the house were severely curtailed (I lived alone, so some going out - to get cat food and such - was terrifying but unavoidable). These days I go wherever I please, whenever I please... and enjoy myself doing it, too. I'm not on meds.

Here's to your process of reclaiming the world outside your home... you can do it! Big Grin

Future

As I said in a previous post. I had terrible agoraphobia. I couldn't drive more than 1 block past my comfort zone. It was awful. Now I go wherever I want. I ride for hours in the back seats of cars. I have performed in plays in front of 350 people. It can be done. You must always challenge yourself, make yourself drive 2 block past your comfort zone. I would leave work and drive 10 miles to the neighboring town - just to see if I could do it.

Hi Future,
I agree that agoraphobia can be overcome without meds. I struggled with severe agoraphobia for over 7 years and found healing. I did take natural supplements to take the anxiety edge off which helped me greatly. You might check out the book Breaking the Grip of Dangerous Emotions by Dr. Janet Maccaro for insight on this route if interested. L-Theanine is one supplement that I highly recommend. Has a calming effect with no side effects and it helps the adrenal glands heal from excess adrenaline releases brought on by constant anxiety.
Wishing you the best as you seek to find healing. Smiler

I would like to know how long it took to overcome these fears? I know everyones journey is different. But, I get discouraged when I put so much time and effort into recovery and recovery doesn't seem to be coming? I went through the program seven months ago and now with a personal coach. And I am getting impatient waiting.I am not on any meds.
