Here is an over analytical thought. When using self talk are we suppose to talk to ourselves in 'tone' in a calm soothing manner when using the positive repacement thoughts or do we simply replace the negative thoughts with soothing more comforting thoughts?
I have always had any progress that I make stalled by analytical thoughts concerning my coping skills. Either overthinking skills like going slow or analyzing how to visualize a stop slowly and I was wondering if may be do to the fact that when converting my self talk,though the replacement statement itself was calm and soothing,maybe I am not repeating it to myself in the necessary calm and soothing manner?
