are there positive self talk statements somewhere available for us to use to kind of jump start us
saying positive things about ourselves?
any of you listen to Joel Osteen? His podcasts
really help me get positive when I get down.

Well one thing i learned from lesson 3 was Ken was having a hard time with positive self talk and what he said for awhile was thoughts, only thoughts and then it did the self-talk thing a little later...I believe he did that for 2 months before doing the self-talk.

Intelligent people are ones who have knowledge and insist things to be right.

Wise people also have knowledge but they are the ones who can use it to benefit everybody instead of being right.

In the book "What To Say When You Talk To Yourself" there are a whole heap of self-talk statements to say. You can type them out or put them on post-its to your bathroom mirror to remind yourself.

I found some examples with a google search:

quote:

I am good person.

I have integrity.

I do what is ethically right and good.

Whatever life puts before me will be useful experience that will make me stronger, wiser, and more tolerant.

I am strong enough to understand and make allowances for other people's weaknesses, and their behaviour towards me. Other people's behaviour is about them, not me.

I focus on the joy of living my life and helping others where and when I can.

I am what I eat and drink, so I eat and drink good things.

I am what I watch and play and listen, so I watch and play and listen to good positive things.

I take exercise which I enjoy. I walk when I don't need to drive or take the bus or train.

I smile and laugh whenever I can - life is good - getting caught in the rain reminds me that it is good to be alive to feel it.

I forgive other people. Deep down everyone is a good person, just like me.

I am a compassionate and loving, caring person.

I am a good person.

They say even when they seem really unrealistic, goofy or outrageous, still say them to yourself, as after a while it makes your brain literally shift into thinking positively. It's hard for some of us to believe some of these things about ourselves, because we never heard them said to us on a regular basis, and the times we did hear it from a well-meaning or positive person, we got uncomfortable because we weren't used to such things being said to us.

I had a friend who said some wonderful things to me, and I had a really hard time accepting them. She told me what a wonderful and interesting person I was, how I was so great in the kitchen and made wonderful recipes, how neat I was and how one day I was going to do great things. She would really look into my eyes and say this stuff and I cannot tell you how uncomfortable it made me.

I think all parents should say these things to their kids! I know sometimes can be hard but imagine the positive effect it will have on them!

Here are some more, why not print this out and read them to yourself on a daily basis (I think I will!)

"And God said, 'See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.' " Genesis 1:29
