Hi everyone,
After listening to the relaxation tape, many times, I'm thinking about collecting the soothing images. What images do you find soothing? and where have you found them? I'm looking for sources. I find images of water soothing, children laughing, wild flower fields, trees. Kris |

I found the best little book for soothing pictures. It is a small 32 page book of the Oregon coast, I live in Oregon and we have the best coast line in the the US! Anyways It has pictures of a lot of the coast towns and the beaches and coastal wild life as well as lighthouses. I found it in a post card rack at Wal-Mart, it was $5.00 and a company called Smith Western from Portland distributes it. Good luck hunting for yours I hope you post what you found.

One of my favorite photographers has a website on the internet. The photos are costly, but you can save the pictures to your hard drive!
I'm a nature and animal girl, so the photos are of beautiful places and animals! The website for the photos is: http://www.mangelsenonline.com/ There is much detail in them, which helps me "get away"! I just thought I would share.Cindy |

Hi everyone! Soothing images.... sometimes i have looked through books which contain photos from places in the world that i love so much....i did place alot of postcards around the apartment (as suggested in the workbook) that are beautiful to me, and i have quite alot of artbooks (love Renoir, Monet, and lots more) so i open the books at the paintings i love. What i learned to do several years back was to lie on the floor (or sit up), get myself really relaxed (do deep breathing, relax the muscles,etc..) and then tell myself i'd like to see a 'peaceful place'....kind of just 'let it come up'. I ended up with quite a scene! I imagine myself walking down some stairs (counting backwards) and going through a door, which opens up into a gorgeous scene...it's the country, lots of greenery, an enormous tree with piles of fruit hanging from it, lots of animals...birds that welcome me, horses, goats up on a hill, a funny looking beaver chomping on wood...on and on. And then ahead of me..is this beautiful lake that goes on forever...the sky is blue and the sun is shining. In the distance these ducks come around a bend and begin to swim toward me and they're so cute! This scene evolved over time, and now the ducks do this silly, funny dance as they move toward the shore and when they arrive, we say "hi", and the big duck (the leader) lets out a big "Quack"! (you must think i'm nuts!!!) What i do when the scene develops, is i take it in with all my senses....smell, sight, feelings, touch and hearing all the sounds. When i'm feeling very peaceful and happy, i say farewell and go back up the stairs, into my REAL livingroom and stretch and open my eyes. I just wanted to give you an idea of what can happen when you ask yourself for a 'peaceful place'...the imagination is fertile! Somebody bought me a stuffed animal recently (a duck!) and it sits by the computer and represents Peace. I gave it the name "Hopi", which means 'peace' in native Indian. Just think of whatever you find beautiful...think it, draw it, be with it. Hope that gave you some ideas. Have a great day! love.....Lindi

Lindi!
Wow, I like your peaceful place. That sounds like I fun thing to slowly dream up. Sooo neat. I'll try. I'm not sure how good I'll be at making one up, can I start at your lake? I'd like a rope swing, and a big tree to climb to jump into the water. Cindy, Thanks for the idea to put images on the computer! and the website link. Darlene, I found postcards and am taping them up on my mirrors. It's becoming fun to find new ones that are peaceful. I especially like ones of children laughing, and boats. I also went to a teacher's store...and found goofy posters there. Many of the school posters have animals and sayings on them, like "smiles are contagious. Thanks for the ideas ,Kris |
