Danell,

Congratulations on ordering the program! Youll learn in week # 3 about Positive Self-Dialogue...one skill to reduce Anticipatory Anxiety. Learning how to talk to your self with compassion, learning how to stay in the present moment and learning how to sooth instead of scare yourself are some of what's addressed in Lesson 3. In Lesson 4, youll learn about expectations and how to judge/decide if yours are reasonable and healthy...this will be another way of curbing Anticipatory Anxiety...for example, by truly understanding the difference between expecting a perfect performance or only that you will do your best and giving yourself credit...or expecting a worst case scenario versus evaluating and telling yourself the whole truth about a future event...partly, that it might be a best case scenario, something in between or a completely unknown and unforeseen positive outcome.

In Lesson 5, youll learn about diet and exercise and how you can create a positive, healthy physical environment from which to build. For example, how cutting back and/or eliminating stimulants can lower your overall stress/anxiety level...allowing you to feel and think more calm in general...which is a great combatant against Anticipatory Anxiety. Youll learn how physical exertion helps use up/burn off chemicals the body produces when anxious and scared. In addition, there is a relaxation tape and breathing skills given which can also be used to help calm yourself everyday and/or especially in the days leading up to something challenging.

These are just a few of the things in the program Ive used in order to help in general and specifically with Anticipatory Anxiety. There are many other topics that relate directly to the question you ask...scary thoughts are covered, obsessive thinking is covered as well as how to stop worrying...guilt and anger...all relaying information, techniques and skills you will learn that will help with Anticipatory Anxiety. Follow the program as recommended and refrain from jumping ahead to a specific tape...because the program builds and I think youll find the order remarkably well laid out...I was so often amazed that the program was one step ahead of my questions.

My best wishes to you
JOP
