Hi there--I often have attacks that seem to come out of nowhere! its really hard to pinpoint what is bothering me at that moment that is giving me the panic and use the 3rd step of the 6 steps to overcoming panic. I am constantly in fear that one is coming--even when there are no apparent stressors.

Any advice?

ocean1,
Yes, keep practicing, you'll get better with the breathing. You WILL get there.
Keep working on your program and really focus on the positive self talk. This will help to talk yourself out of even starting with a panic attack, or to put a stop to one that has just started.
Each tape in the program will build you up, step by step, in a logical order so that those panic attacks will just be history someday.
I used to have several severe panic attacks EVERY day for years. It was debilitating in many ways. Most of them seemed to come out of nowhere. It scared the heck our of me.
It was all from anxiety - too much "what if" thinking, worrying, negative self talk, obsessive scary thoughts...
Change that all around - get rid of those negative thoughts and replace them with positives and those panic attacks will be gone.
This takes work and time and it's all worth it.
Go easy on yourself, you've just started.
God bless and hugs.

Don't waste your time searching for a reason for the panic attack. The same would happen to me. Just breath deeply, and tell yourself it's ok and that it will go away. Do not fear them, they can not harm you. Sometimes panic attacks are caused my what you ate, lack of sleep, and old hurts and problems of the past. It's okay. It's a way for your body to let go of all the toxic junk..If you can conquer panic attacks, everything else is a piece of cake. I wish all the best to you..

Sometimes I get low-grade anxiety just by talking about things that make me anxious, such as my job right now. I'm also super-sensitive to noise (especially a loud television.) The TV volume sometimes sets me off.

Forgot to mention that a cluttered house gives me anxiety. My husband is a clutterer and has learned that if I clean up and he then clutters, I get very anxious. He has been very helpful with this lately. I wish I'd told him years ago that his clutter had an effect on my health, but I didn't. It caused a lot of resentment on my part. Now that I've been open about this, our relationship has never been better.
