Hi All!
I have been super nervous lately. I feel like every couple of hours, I'm on the verge of a panic attack. I have listened to Lesson 2 a billion times. I know I need to "Accept". Here's the problem. How do I accept when I think it is absolutely silly/stupid that I feel nervous/panicky? I get nervous of mornings (i.e. going to work), I get nervous to eat (strange, just came on), I get nervous to travel (just went to Chicago to Cubs game - had several panic attacks). I get nervous and anxious over the STUPIDEST Stuff. But then when I should panic (i.e. you would think I would have panicked on a bus full of people to Wrigley from parking) I'm ok. So how can I be sympathetic to myself when I don't understand the reason behind my waves of nervousness? So I question if panic attacks can be habit? I.E. Morning panic attacks? |

People have different triggers, a person could be calm in a crazy situation, but when something miniscule happens, they freak out. That is normal with an anxiety disorder. Don't feel stupid or think your anxiety is stupid, just try to understand that they are there. Try not to overanalyze why they come at certain times. I am the same way, for some reason I panic at night but all day im anxious. I don't know if panic attacks could be a habit, but if you get yourself worked up everytime that certain time comes (morning, eating), then it can become a habit because you are expecting it.
You WILL be ok though, don't worry so much... |

Finally Recovered! |
Okay this is going to be a really stupid example but it's the only one I can think of at the moment to get my point across.
Just like you can train your body to have bowel movements at the same time every day, or only at home instead of a public bathroom, you can get into the habit of doing almost anything. So yes, panic attacks in certain situations and at a specific time of the day can be nothing more than a habit. You do anything over and over again long enough and it will become a habit. It takes 21 days to form a new habit, if I'm not mistaken. |
