I need some advice. I have been getting much better over the past 6 months. I have even reduced my medication (SSRI & Anti-Depressant) to a bare minimum. I thought I had mastered the anxiety symptoms, but now my mind is wandering back to the thoughts of, "this is never going to go away"..."how am I going to live like this the rest of my life". I feel as though I am regressing. Has anyone else gone off/reduced their medication and experienced the depression?
What do I do? |

Don't look at it as "regressing." Think of it as a "growth spurt." Also remember, you can never go back to how bad you were in the beginning because you are a different, more confident person with new skills.
Sometimes I will get some episodes of anxiety and I'll think "whoa - remember these!" and I'll think about what's bothering me to bring it on and try to deal with that. It helps me. Sometimes you can't do much about what is actually bothering you. So you have to think about what you actually CAN do and do it. Then - if there's not much you can do about it, you have to let it go; change your reaction to it. I hope I haven't rambled too much. Good luck to you. Helen |

Simone,
Are you working the decrease of medication with your doctor. If you have a chemical imbalance there is a thing called rebound if you stop your medication too soon. Maybe your chemical imbalance has not corrected itself and you need to stay up on your medication. Whatever you do, do it with a good Doctor that is experienced in treating anxiety and depression with medication. Good Luck |
