I've told my family dr I'd prefer to not take medication for anxiety if at all possible. I'm already on an antidepressant, but that's as far as I'd like to go if possible. She has suggested a therapist. This makes me a little nervous. I've heard it can take a long time to find a therapist that works with you, or understands anxiety, and I don't have the patience to teach a therapist about anxiety and panic attacks. Any advice?

Hi:
I have had bad and good therapits. When you find a good one it is wonderful!!! I like congtive therapy I feel good about it. It works well with my thoughts. This program is helpful also. I feel it's hard at first to see someone, however it can help just keep on trying till you find someone that works well with you. THE PHILOSPHY OF GEORGE CARLIN............ "I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswomen,"where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defect the purpose." ha ha, lol |

Hey Annie,
I found a therapist that has done wonders for me. Keep trying until you find one your comfortable with. You have nothing to lose..but anxiety. |

Also find out what type of therapy they practice. A behavioral therapist can help you change the patterns which affect your negative thinking and anxiety. If you get someone who does more pyschoanalysis, you may find out the root of your anger, depression and anxiety was the way your mother treated you as a child, but it certainly doesn't do you a lot of good now.
