I had my first panic attack 2 months ago. Ordered the program right away and have been improving. I get an occasional bad day. Just recently I have this energy in my body like a small motor is running (very noticeable when trying to sleep)which I had at the initial onset of my anxiety. My sleep is poor as well (sleep 2 hours, wake up averaging 5-6 hours) which I can handle. Does anyone else have the body energy? It is usually accompanied by bombarding thoughts of will I recover and an inability to watch TV. I take 30mg of buspar a day and tolerate it well (been taking for 5-6 weeks so far). Any similarites, any success stories with buspar? Thank you in advance for your support.

Oh yeah, you're totally not alone with the extra energy/poor sleeping/"will I ever get better??" thoughts. I find I'm just on edge all day and it's really hard for me to just calm down and stop thinking. And I wake up about every 2-3 hours as well, which is really annoying! I've found that exercising is a great way to release the extra energy...I like running, but I'm sure any other form of exercise would work well for you. It's hard for me to concentrate and focus when I'm anxious -- I can't sit through TV programs or read because I have all of that extra energy. As for the medication, I've never taken buspar but I have taken Ativan (Lorazepam) which is an anti-anxiety medication that works well for calming me down. I too freak out about never feeling better again, but it's helpful for me to remind myself that I am going to get past my anxiety and that in the grand scheme of life, I will have more better days than bad days. It's also nice to come onto sites like this and realize other people are also dealing with similar issues! Good luck, and remember, you're not alone!

Hi Tara, I can totally relate to the energy problem it is funny most of the time I am so tired I can't wait to go to bed and then when I get in bed I am totaly full of energy I also had a feeling of energy surge that made my body jolt and do weird things . exercise is good for this it increases your level of serotonin. try not to go to bed anxious. I actually am totally aware of my dreams and can have a dream that will cause an anxiety attack in my sleep, last night I had a dream that the house was on fire and I was trying to wake my family but I had no voice and then I had a full panic attack in my sleep and woke up but I let it go immediately because I knew it was just a dream .. in the past I had panic attacks in my sleep and woke up and did'nt remember the dream and this made my anxiety worse because I couldn't figure out why!! now I know and it isn't so scarey I am so glad you have the program so many people struggle for months even years before getting the program and trying to resolve it .. when I am anxious it is hard to read, watch tv or do anything especially the relaxation tape. when I am really anxious it helps so much to talk it out or write it out in a journal . Anyway sorry to babble on....I am not on buspar I am on ativan it works great but I heard it is addictive ( I think it is a tranqulizer) personally I can't wait to take nothing If you want to know more about buspar try doing a seperate post I know there are lots of people taking it here that would be able to give info..oh yeah one more thing I bet everyone here has had that scarey thought of "I will never get over this" that is just the anxiety talking !! It is not true.
