I was just put on ovcon, I took 7 pills and had to stop today because my anxiety was so out of control. In the mornings I would have such rush of adrenaline that I would have to take something for anxiety and every morning was getting worst and worst I could non handle it any more. This is just my experience, it does not have to be for you like that. It takes time for your body to get used to. Good lack!

I just answered something similar on another post so I hope you don't mind me being lazy...I'm going to just copy and past it
When I first started on bcps it made my anxiety worse. I'm don't think it was because of the hormones itself it was me what ifing the possible side effects that can happen. Everytime I switched to a new pill I swore every pull or pain in my leg was a blood clot...I drove myself nuts. Guess its that lovely hypochondriac personality that loves to linger I'm not sure what dosage you are on...but you may want to start off on a lower dose pill (monophasic). These have less hormones but are just as effective. Also be aware that it may take a few tries with a few different pills to figure out which one works the best for you. Ive gone through 3 and finally found one I like..I'm on Yasmin. Try to float through if you can for the 3 months as that is the period when they say side effects will work themselves out...but if you cannot then a quick trip back to the GYN for a pill change won't hurt either!
I hope you find one that works well for you.

thanks girls, I took myself off them about 4 days ago and I feel about 100 times better than I was feeling when I got on them. I was on the patch and I didn't realize how bad it was affecting me until I got off it! I can finally relax again!!!!! I think I'm just going to stick with non-hormonal conterseptives! Much love ans blessings Anna

Sorry girls- I know this post is more for the gals but I can reinforce the truth about the link between some birth control and anxiety..My fiance was on Cyclessa and it did quite a number on her-well for at least three weeks out of the month she wouldn't feel that great and on that third week she was almost in a depressive state..She suspected the pills and she switched to Yasmin like TL7 did and now she is fine. Her moods don't sway at all now and she feels really great..Maybe try Yasmin before giving up on the pills all together..Her Dr. told her that sometimes pills like Cyclessa (tri-phasic pills that have a different dosage of hormones for each week) can cause depression-like symptoms because they're altering your hormone level each week, whereas pills like Yasmin have the same dosage throughout the month and don't mess with your hormone levels constantly. Anyway, I just tought I would add a little knowledge from life experience to this post...
i am going through something simialar only mine is the what if symdrom..i was on on the same type of bc for almost 1o years, and then they stopped having it..so they switched it to the ortho cycycline lo,which is supposed to be close to what i was taking..my prob is i am just sitting and waiting to feel different and making my own self anxiose..NO how dumb is that...
Hello all, I took ortho for a year and didn't have any nasty side effects besides headaches. Now my doc just put me on loestrin, and I'm so scare of taking it. Today It's my first day and I'm hesitating. She put me on the pill because I suffer wit bad PMS and she said this is going to help. I hope it will.... So tonight I will take my first pill... hopefully my anxiety it's not gonna increase because it's at the roof as it stands right now
