Hi, I am new to the forum and am wondering if this program will help me? I am seeing a lot of comments on IBS and wonder if my symptoms could be that. I have loud noises occasionally in my lower right side and discomfort there that will sometimes last for days. If affects my appetite and increases my trips to the bathroom. I've been checked thoroughly by my OBGYN for ovarian problems with a pelvic ultrasound and pelvic exams-nothing. Everything checks out fine. I've had a problem with stress for a long time and a history of Postpartum Depression with some relapses. This anxiety issue is new to me. Could this be my problem? Any advice would be really appreciated. I need some help.

Hello,

IBS= irritable bowel syndrome. It is a disease of exclusion, meaning when ulcers, Chron's disease {sp?} etc., are ruled out, IBS is usually the culprit. I have had it for as long as I can remember.

You covered the ob/gyn and that is good Now, perhaps a trip to a gastroenterologist. My first stop to a diagnoses was to my family doctor, than my ob/gyn, than to a gastro doctor for tests...yuck...but at least I have the peace of mind to know that this is a direct result of my anxiety disorder and that I can control it to some degree.

It sounds like you have signs and symptoms of IBS, but a definitive dx by a gastro doctor is the best thing.

Take care,

~Angel

Thanks Angel, I guess I'll have to get checked out. Do you have pain with IBS?

Yes I get stomach cramps from it...OUCH Very normal w/IBS. Alternating bouts of diarrhea and constipation too. I have to watch what I eat...I learned my 'trigger foods' and I, for the most part, avoid them, but every now and than I indulge and sometimes I can handle them...it all depends on my level of anxiety that particular day. If I am having a zero to mild anxiety day...no problem...but if I am having a bit of a rough day w/the anxiety like when practicing a limitation...that is not the time for me to indulge.

Best wishes to you

~Angel
