With the job market the way it is, I was a little afraid to stand up for myself. I work with someone who is a bit of a bully. I'm not a small guy, but I only use my strength for good ! LOL Anyway, the "bully" decided to speak awful towards some people including me. I told him that he wasn't allowed to speak to people that way and if he continued, I'd have to take it to a higher authority. The bullying has gone on for 4+ years (waaaaaaay too long).
I was firm, I got my point across and I did it without stooping to his level. It's been 3 days now, and it has stopped I hope it stays that way !

I second Jill's congratulations hehehe....Standing up to bullies is always a triumph so much kudos to you!!!

Well...the work week is over and it was the best week I think I've had since I started working there 5 years ago. It really paid for me to stand up for myself. A couple of the guys (2 of them) kept their distance from me, but the rest of them are talking to me more ! I think this could be the beginning of good things to come ! Hi music man, this is awesome! There have been many times when I've wanted to say something but held back. Way to go, and good for you!!!!

It's all about learning how to stand up for yourself without being a jerk yourself. Once you practice it a few times, it becomes easier. These situations don't happen often, but if it does, I'm ready. I'm half way thru the second week at work with the new me and all is still cool !

That is wonderful music man I work with lots of bullies. I have been there for 3 years I wish I could have been so nice when I stood up for myself this past year. Instead I told then if you all want to push me around anymore they would have to start paying my bills or I was going to snap and beat some a##. Well it stopped but now everyone thinks I'm crazy. LOL

ROFL Bria yes we have to find a happy medium. I do this with my kids. They push and push and push and I turn into this hormonal raging woman. Of course my DH is Mr. Calm Cool and Collected and they love and respect him and I'm the Wicked Witch of the West. LOL!!!

Yay for you!!! Not only did you stand up for yourself, but others too!!

Hi Bria! i am very new to this program. i just want to say that I can really relate. i am not confrontational at all. I am scared to get into fights because i wear weave and wigs alot; i dont want anyone to pull it off my head. I really wear them for a purpose. Since i started the program, i have really stood up for myself! I am glad things are progressing for u as well! YOU GO GURL! -H
