I'm only on Session 5 of the program, but I've already learned that I'm only one of many afraid to fly and also that I need to go into my vacations with lower expectations. I'm not usually a good traveler, especially when we fly, but this time, I had absolutely no panic attacks, enjoyed the time in the air and also on a long ferry ride, and had probably the greatest vacation of my life. I tried to talk to myself with a kind voice and with respect, used the deep breathing at times, and replayed the relaxation CD in my head (though I didn't have it with me). I feel proud of myself, for a change, and am not afraid to take another trip.
I was afraid that my condition was too bad for this program to help, but already it has. The forum has been so uplifting and informative, and I'm looking forward to listening to more of the CD's and learning more skills.
Hi KR, Congratulations on taking those steps toward recovery. Isn't it liberating when you can see your way clear to doing something you've avoided for so long? Keep up the good work and make sure you stick with the program...it's awesome and it really helps. Good Luck! Ellen
Believing you can is everything.

Congratualation on your success. The resurgenceand real recognition of my panic and anxiety problem was on the plain back form New York on our best vacation ever. It was our first time in NYC and I didn't know what was happening to me on the plain ride home. Since then I have had more and GAD wondering what was going on and when it was going to happen again. I am a self employed business owner but have been scared to death since that trip until I found out what was wrong with me and through this program am getting help. I have promised my family another trip next March back to New York for Spring Break and to tell the truth I am scared to death again but I made the promise on an uptrend and I will do it somehow. I found another great book called "Been There, Done That, Now Do This" by Sam Orbitz. It really helped and is such a little first grade type printed book that I stayed up all night and read it in one night. It uses the same approach as Lucinda and really helped. Good Luck to All, Rob Georgia
KR, congrats! I too just returned from vacation. I drove all 3,154 miles myself, with no problems whatsoever. Awesome feeling, eh? Congratulations once again. Good job.
