How many times have we all panicked yet found the strength to get through it? I have done it so many times, and yet the anticipation of things is so hard. For instance:
-I panicked in the chair getting my haircut and got through it.
-I have panicked picking my daughter up from school and got through it.
-I panicked in a crowed gymnasium during my daughter's baccalaureate ceremony (awful!) yet I got through it be reading the program and concentrating on the wording and using my breathing. I felt too hemmed in by people and far from the exit. I didn't even tell my husband who was standing next to me.
-I have panicked at the checkout in grocery stores and got through it.

There were countless other times too. We always get through them, yet we waste our precious moments torturing ourselves with it. The big thing is to realize we can get through those attacks and not let them take over our lives.

I can relate to each and every one of you. We can all do this if we let ourselves! Hugs to all of you!

Thanks for the reminder, Kathy. I had a call the other day from a lady saying she was not ready to accept her panic attacks. She heard Lucinda on the tapes telling this gal to just pull the covers up over her head and have the attack. She said she was not ready to do that. But I pointed out that she is going to have the panic attack either way... whether she accepts it or fights it, she is going to have the attack and live through it.

So thanks for your validation. If we can't stop the attack (which would be our first choice!!!), the next best thing is for us to get through it without so much fear and doubt about "am I going to survive this?" We do get through them one way or another. Thanks for your input.
