The thought of general anesthesia used to freak me out. In fact, I had to have some teeth pulled years ago and chose novocaine instead of being "put under." But after a procedure I had on Wednesday to fix my arrythmia, I no longer fear it. In fact, I enjoyed the way it made me feel loopy and relaxed a split second before I went to sleep. I was able to let go of my fears.
I used the positive techniques from the program to help me through this. I used to have panic attacks 2 years ago, and I did so well this week and am really proud. I would have been a wreck if I had to have this surgery prior to using the tools given to me with the Attacking Anxiety program. I'm posting this to anyone who has to "go under" for the first time and has major fears about it. Or control issues. I like to be in control, and the thought of not knowing what was going on seemed really weird. It wasn't bad at all, and the things I worried about never happened. I woke up happy and content. I no longer will fear it if I ever have to have a procedure again, and I can just "let go" and let things happen as needed. I had to learn to trust the professionals and be okay with it. ~Melissa |

Hello Melissa,
WOW! What a conquest! I hope that you've given yourself one HUGE pat on the back for this accomplishment. Isn't it funny how once you decide to let go of trying to control everything, that life gets a little smoother and those things you fear can actually be a benefit to you? --Phil. |
