I had a wonderful thing happen today !!! I HAVE to share. My husband was at the dentist, pressed for time, and I was with him. We needed a few things form the supermarket. I told him I was thinking of driving over to it while he was in the dentist, then I said, "Well, maybe I will".

It was only a short drive, and only across side streets, about a block. Well. I DID it! Big Grin I started the car, drove over, parked, and went in, and actually shopped. All by myself.I did say to myself, "Its only anxiety", but actually, I did not feel any apprehension, except when I first brought it up to my husband. It just sort of melted away, and I walked into that store, did my shopping, checked out with a smile on my face, walked to the car, and wanted to yell out "I did it"!!!

Drove back to the dentist office,my husband was still in , so I went to a nice stationary store, and bought my friend a beautiful birthday card. That is where my husband found me!!! He said."Baby, I am SO proud of you,I cant believe it. I was stunned when I was waiting to see the dentist, and the car was gone". BIG goofy and happy smile on my face. I felt like a REAL person. It was wonderful, to say the least ! Take care all ! Smiling Nancy Smiler

What a wonderful accomplishement, Nancy! This step will probably open many doors for you (literally Wink ) I hope you recognize the strength you gave yourself yesterday by 1.) driving to the store and shopping by yourself, and 2.) being PROUD of yourself!!! Not that it was "only a short drive, across side streets, about a block," but that YOU DID IT. And you stopped to see your own smile. How beautiful. You are a "REAL" person--having this condition doesn't make you otherwise. I feel like the people I've met on this forum are more authentic and real than a lot of other people I know.

Take care, and keep us posted with your steps & triumphs!

Hi Nancy,
I am soooooooooooooooo very happy for you! I can feel how good this made you feel, having gone through similar things like this myself. Feeling independent again is so rewarding in itself. I would like to suggest that you write down your accomplishments in your journal. It really helps to validate within your mind that you are REALLY moving forward which helps greatly on days when we're feeling "stuck".
Keep taking those baby steps! Smiler

Hi Greatful, Thank You sooooooo much for the positive feedback. It is appreciated very much. I had not thought of the 'journaling' of my triumphs, but what a great idea. I journal everything else, but just did not think of this.

I SO want to continue with these baby steps, and feel that soon I will pick up the pace, and impress myself with myself even more !LOL!What a liberating thing to feel like this . Undescribable !!! Thanks again, and take care, Smiling Nancy Smiler
