This story turned out to be a triumph. I went to see this pretty strange hairdresser- he talked me into drastically changing my hair, cutting it and giving me a perm.

I sat in the chair, getting my hair rolled and beating myself up for not saying no, that I didn't want that. After he rolled my hair, which took quite a while, I sat there thinking about how I could escape...not so easy with perm rollers in your hair. Then I thought, what if I am allergic to the chemicals and have an allergic reaction, etc. etc. I had some really terrible what if's. Finally, I said what if my hair looks really great? What if I will like the change and it looks fantastic?

You know what, it does look great! I was so excited when it was finished. I have to marvel at how far I have come. It used to take a lot for me to just get my haircut. Today, I sat in the salon for almost 2 hours getting this done and I WAS FINE. My hair is a little wild, but I look younger and I just love it. Strange how life works out sometimes, Huh?

Congrats! That is awesome.

I also have had a hard time gettng my hair cut at times. That's great that you were able to get through it especially with the uncertainty of how your hair was going to turn out.

GREAT JOB VA GIRL !!

Now that is the perfect example of turning a negative "what if" to a positive "what if" !!

Glad you love your hair! Perhaps you will be more open to change in the future ??!!

YAY Virginia Girl! Way to go! Haircuts/coloring sessions always make me anxious too because you feel stuck. But you "what ifed" the positive way - excellent example of putting the Lucinda Program to good practice. High five!

I am just glad to hear someone else so scared of haircuts!! I haven't had my haircut professionally in years, I color and cut myself, I can make it to the beauty supply on occasion, but a salon, oh no.. luckily I am fairly good at cut and color... I can't even fathom letting someone else mess with my hair... freaks me out!! oh well, one of my lesser issues.. very glad to hear you did something out of your comfort zone and it worked out well!! Peace... Julia

Hi, Way to go!! I'm so happy for you and what a great example of how to turn the what if's around! I'm so happy that you went and love your hair. I too can relate I just recently went and got a haircut after many years! I always cut it at home. So it was a really great feeling. Take care and be proud of YOU! Smiler
