i am new to the site, just joined today. my success may seem silly but as you know the things that cause panic in our lives often seem silly after the fact. well, my onset of the disorder came from an experience eating food in switzerland about 5 years ago. long story short the food was wierd, i felt pressure to eat it, i passed out and the rest was panick anxiety history with a little post traumatic stress in there. well here i am 5 years later living in china. before i left home i was terrified of the thought of the food here. i just knew i would relapse and flip out or die if i had to eat some freaky food. well i am in the 4th week of the program and so far i have eaten fried scorpian, jelly fish, fried bee larve and boiled octapus. i can't believe it, it really amazed me how just speaking to myself positively, recognizing the body symptoms as anxiety not "the food killing me" i was able to do the polite thing and take part in an amazing cultural experience that with out this program i would never have been able to do.i hope ya'll can enjoy this. it has meant the world to me to know "i" could do this, i really thought i would deal with the panic and terror of food forever. maybe not.
Your post comes in a timely fashion for me and gives me hope. I have had a long journey and am slowly introducing certain foods back into my diet. If you can eat scorpion, surely I can eat a pear! Thanks!
