Hello all! Major accomplishment today. I took a 3-hour law school exam with minimal anxiety. I had the normal test anxiety, but not the spiral-out-of- control anxiety. I thought I was going to and was very nervous (I am in my second year and this is the first exam since having my first major anxiety attacks). But, all this positive talk and belief that I would be fine really worked! I sat through it and actually feel like I did well! Thanks for everyone's support in the general forum.

Hi Kforpeace! The anticipation is the worst! It's amazing where our minds want to drift and how far from reality they often go!
I enjoy juvenile law and family law the most. I have a special place in my heart for kids. I worked for a juvenile law office for 7 months this semester and last and it was beyond fulfilling. There are a lot of kids with adverse circumstances out there. I enjoyed being a part of their positive change. Thanks for asking....

I just finished my exams too at the law school. You are a real inspiration to others that self-talk is one of the keys to recovery. Pat yourself on the back.
Hi Mk1223! CONGRATS TO YOU!! You know how challenging these law exams are and what a pain in the a$& they can be when one has to focus for 3 hours without faultering. Aghhh. It's a person with anxiety's most daunting fear challenge.
Aren't we so glad it's over? Whew.....summer to work and play....work and play....CONGRATS AGAIN!

Oh, I'm SO glad to hear that you did it and you did it well! I've been thinking about you. I knew you would do just fine, but I knew you weren't so sure. Did the time fly by? Let us know how you did when you get the results. That is if you want to. The important part is that you did it with minimal anxiety. You're awesome!
Hi Ami! The time did fly!! The only portion of time that didn't fly was the dreadful five minutes after they hand out the exam and you have to wait for the time to pass until the proctor says, "You may begin." That little period of time was designed for people with anxiety so they can test their coping skills (breathing, positive self-talk, etc.) Otherwise, it went fast and part way through, I thought to myself, "hey, I can do this. I've done it 16 times (literally) before. It's no big deal." Thanks for thinking of me. I was thinking of you today when I saw my housemate's Oprah magazine in the mail. When are you going to be on?
