Hi all,
I faced a major phobia of mine the other day and finally went to the dentist for a cleaning after a number of years of ignoring my health. As I grew up, I always went to regular yearly check-ups, and never had any cavities or any problems to speak of (though I did get braces in high school and got my wisdom teeth removed shortly before starting college). Anyway, I was worried that, after many years, they'd find something really wrong or lecture me for waiting so long, etc. Well, it turns out my fears were unfounded! I still have no cavities, and the whole cleaning only took about a half-hour! They said things looked good, and set up my next appointment a year from now! Needless to say, I am still rather shocked at the ease of everything. I just assumed that waiting so long between appointments meant that something bad would face me when I finally faced the issue. Luckily, it seems as though I have "held up well" overall and was pleased with the ease of the whole experience, and proud that I managed to face my fears and do this. |
