I have had this feeling on & off for a few years but wanted to see if others are dealing with the same thing. There isn't really a specific time that I notice the feeling but I have noticed recently that I have it more so if it's been awhile since I've eaten. My mom is diabetic so I have checked blood sugars & it's usually low when I feel this way. I just hate feeling "drunk" for no reason. Any thoughts?

I think they say it is a defence mechanism that your brain uses when there is too much stress, too much thinking. I have it too. Some of mine may be from medication also. Yesterday I was having lunch with my daughter and while sitting in the restarant I felt like I was going to fall out of the chair. I thought if I fall out of the chair I'll just say it was epilepsy my daughter may have been embarassed but she would have played along). I felt better. Don't fear it and be patient.

I have felt it too in the past. I think part of it can be from not eating and/or hormonal imbalances. At this time I am taking natural progesterone and it seems I feel better and my periods have not been painful in the past 2 months. My anxiety is less and so is my depression. I went to a compounding pharmacist and did a saliva test to check my levels. Hope this helps.

harleystem you're right, it is a defense mechanism...almost like your mind is taking a minivacation. It definately feels really scary, I have it all the time but it fluctuates and there have been times where it was almost gone. I like to think of it as being "stoned". The only way you can overcome this is to take the fear out of it. "This is just a symptom of anxiety, I may act a little loopy and feel strange but that's ok it cannot hurt me." Or you could say "I'm not going to faint, fall, die, passout or go crazy it always passes. It's just anxiety"

It isn't easy to overcome this but it feels amazing when you do. Also using the relaxation cd 2-3X a day really helps. The accomplishments start building up on top of each other and slowly slowly the anxiety starts to dissipate and you can even overcome an anxious episode almost automatically.

I hope this helps.

Mike

Intelligent people are ones who have knowledge and insist things to be right.

Wise people also have knowledge but they are the ones who can use it to benefit everybody instead of being right.
