Hello all,
I just rented Ellen Degeneres "Here and Now" and have not laughed that hard in years! It's her latest stand-up routine and is just hilarious. It also has a small bit about anxiety....I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of her subtle humor....she really leaves you laughing afterwards.... Smiler

I'm so going to go get that. I LOVE her. She's so original and funny. It comes so natural for her. I feel so bad that so many people have been so terrible to her just because she is gay. People are so mean and I'm so glad it didn't wear down her spirit.

Hi Ami!
I watched it again today with a friend of mine. I was laughing just as hard the second time....It's really worth it. I can't wait to hear what you think. It's a great anxiety release. In fact, today I spent time with a friend that I felt I couldn't freely be too anxious around. Granted, that's my own issue, but you know what I mean...that friend who seldom shows vulnerability. So, there I am anxious over that and I suggest we watch Ellen. By the end of the hour, I was laughing too hard to remember I was anxious.....it's great stuff. Let me know how it goes... Smiler

Interesting that this particular show was brough up cause I just watched it the other night too! I was going through a really bad spell of depression and it was actually starting to scare me so I went out and rented her stand-up routine. I tell ya, it might not have completely cured me (that took time-and I think it might have something to do with the medication I'm on...) but I laughed so hard that I was crying which was definitely a great release.
Without hesitation recommend this to one and all-especially if you're feeling down-I guarantee it'll help Wink

Hi Chantelle!
I am glad we are in agreement! I am trying to alert everyone that this is one of the funniest things I have seen and they should all rent it!! I actually bought it to cheer me up when I am down. I have used it twice in the last three weeks and laughed just as hard every time.....it's good stuff... Smiler

Hi Chantelle!
No, I haven't read any of her books. In fact, I didn't know she wrote books. Is there any chance you have the titles of those books? If not, I can look them up on line...

Thanks for the suggestion... Smiler

I just read all these posts about Ellen DeGeneres and it reminded me of a really bad time I was having several years ago. I felt like I needed something funny to lift my spirits and get my mind off all the negative thoughts.

I bought one of Ellen's books called "My Point...and I Do Have One." It has short chapters of really funny stuff. There's one that I just read tonight about giving youself daily affirmations. Here's a couple: "I bet nobody knows I'm crazy." or "The Great Spirit smiles on me. On me and only me. The Great Spirit hates everybody else. We're best friends." Smiler

It's a fun book and I'm going to go read more now as I try try try to ignore the heat and humidity and convince myself it's ok to fall asleep!

I'm going to pic up that book. Are there any other books about the "lighter" side of anxiety. i'm tired of reading the clinical, serious stuff. I think this Ellen book is just what I need.

I have to ask, if I rent this can my children watch it too? Or is it adult only type stuff. I know some comedians get a bit too frank with the stuff and some spit out swear words like popcorn in a popper. I can't really watch it alone first. Thanks for the help. I really do like her humor. But I have only heard little bits here and there.

Thanks, Reena

I ws having a really bad week and a dear friend of mine brought the tape over of Ellen D. It was so much fun to watch and to laugh. I should probably play it again.... and again.... and again....especially when a lighter side of the day is needed.
