Well, I just can't resist putting my two cents in.

Everyone on the forum please give us insight into the real you. That way when your time capsule is dug up 25 years from now we will learn something about you. Or if you want it dug up 50 years from now, so indicate.

In a small sealed metal box which of the following or other items will you put in it?
You may mix and match catagories.
You may change the type of capsule you put it in. Where would you burry it? Who would you want to dig it up? Be as silly as you want here. Would you rather it was you they dug up like the Encino man? If so, what would you be wearing?

Hi P-k-a-y-e,
Great reply and well thought out. I like the items you put into your capsule and digging it up yourself would be exiciting. Knowing you'll be there fifty years from now indicates the positive side of your personality.

Oh boy, this is a tough one. The things I would want to put in a capsule to be dug up 50 years from now...

1) A beautiful black and white wedding picture of my hubby and I: the happiest day in my life so far
2) A locket in a shape of a female angel that my best friend gave me in college when I was having a very hard time. It got me through so much.
3) A picture of my mother, grandmother, sister, best friend, and I: by far the four most important women for me and my role models.
4) A copy of Atlas Shrugged, my favorite book
5)My cell phone: a girl's got to talk
6) Doby and Pounce, my beanie baby puppy and kitten (our landlord wouldn't let us have real pets, so we have toys... )
7) a pair of eyebrow-plucking tweazers, to show my grandkids to just what self-torturing lengths women used to go to look "better"
8) a pair of my old wripped jeans, by far the most comfortable thing in the world
9) Sting's "Brand New Day" CD
10) U2's "All that you can't leave behind" Cd

All of you, thank you for your great replies! Although I thought up the question for fun, I too found it difficult to come up with items to put in the capsule. LOL

Ok.. I'll give it a shot.
~um...I'd have to stick some music in... a bunch of cd's... a few 80's tunes and then into some great grunge... am I dating myself For sure U2 ~ the greatest band ever. The Dixie Chicks,Willie-of course(can't live in Texas and not love Willie) and my friend's band
~a pic of myself with my family... to show what we used to wear.
~newspapers with head lines from 9-11,and all the rest of the strife going on today
~probably my journal. Hopefully I can look at it and laugh at how serious I took myself. Probably my workbook from the midwest thing
~ my nose ring and belly ring. (just to gross out my grandkids..hahaha)
~ some magazines... people, time, ...anything weird... like the soap digest or the national enquirer... hahaha

I can't think of anything else I would add...

gotta go and paint my daughters nails... girls.. who knew they would be such high maintinance ( that's not spelt right )

Bonbon,
Thanks for your reply. I think you'll need a trunk for your capsule. You'll never be able to squeeze your stuff in an average size capsule. And you'll need a large pit for its burial like one in a cemetary. Nevertheless, your family and the future generalion will have fun opening your trunk. You might as well had your boom box or CD player and an outlet to a wall that has electricity. Or are batteries enough? But dig the whole deep for a cool spot for those batteries or you've got dead cells. LOL

- my renaissance faire costume (corset and all)
-one out of a million of my stuffed monkeys....(all different species and named)
-one of my books about king arthur
-all of my worries and anxiety!!!!
-little blue elephant (a mini beanie baby fro my first date with my man)
-my journal
-a story i have written
-pictures of my family
-used disney world passes
-my planner...noone has ever seen me without one
-a copy of "feed the birds" from mary poppins...my comfort song that mom used to sing me to sleep with
-the tiny shredded piece that remains of my baby blanket and is still with me.

that's about all i can think of right now....i could probably keep going, but then i would need a trunk too lol.....i just want to keep everything that has any memories attached to it forever nad ever.....

Bunda, My 19 year old daughter just got married. She came back home to finish packing stored stuff from the closet. Out came her battered, torn and smelly baby blanket! We tried throwing it out years ago. It was dramatic for her! We said a few final words for it as we stood over the kitchen trash. Well, later she took it out to keep. Needless to say, she took it with her to her new apartment. I wonder what her husband will say?

Guess yours holds a lot of memories.
