I thought I'd share some conundrums that my Dad told me...
Three cowboys come into a small town, and go to the hotel. They each book a room. The owner charged them a total of $30. They go up to their rooms, and she decides that they were nice folks, so she will give them a discount. She gives $5 to the bellboy to split between the three cowboys. He can't figure out how to split the money, so he gives each cowboy $1 and keeps $2 for himself. How much did each cowboy spend on the room? $9. That makes a total of $27 for all three of them. But the bellboy kept $2 for himself. That makes $29. So where did the other dollar go?? Why does sour cream have an expiration date? If you try to fail and succeed, what have you done? Ha! I like this one. |

no seriously-what's the answer? |

There is no answer.
Just kidding! I spent three days overanalyzing it myself. Probably a pretty mean joke for some anxiety sufferers. 9+9+9=27 + 3 = 30... 30-2=28-3=27 I got confused because I wanted to say 9+9+9=27 +2 = 29 so where's the other $? Its just a matter of picking the right numbers to add and subtract. I've never been a math person. Does this make sense? Can you sleep tonight? Cheers, Deb |

The answer is quite simple: They paid a total of $30.00 with a $5.00 discount which means that they each paid a total of $8.33. Then they got back $1.00 for a total paid of $28.00 ($9.33 each * 3 people) and the bellboy kept $2.00 for a total of $30.00. This may not be the correct answer but sounds logical to me.
