I never watch anything that I think is depressing or will be. I just wanted to tell everyone that I watched a show on NBC last night called "Most Outrageous TV Moments" I laughed so hard it hurt and it felt so good. We also were flipping from that show to American Idol and there are some good laughs on there too. It was a night full of laughs. It sure does make a big difference to laugh instead of frown or being mad. I recommend not watching anything too serious. It's more fun watching the funny stuff anyway. Even watching I Love Lucy is a blast too. Anyway, keep on laughing and smiling. Take Care!

pjohns,

I agree. I've never been one to watch those shows about murder, suicide, abuse, etc. Especially hospital shows like ER. I tried to watch to see what the hype was all about but it got me so sad because these things happen.

The only drama I watch is Judging Amy on CBS. It's kind of a quirky drama, though it does have some serious drama at times because Amy is a judge and she encounters a lot of bad cases, especially with children. But, it has likeable characters and the show focuses on there daily lives and can be quite funny.

I like comedies mostly like "Scrubs" (hysterical). Too bad "Friends" and "Frasier" are gone, they were my favorites too. So I watch a lot of reruns. "Will and Grace" is not as good as it used to be and "Joey" hasn't quite caught on with me. That new show "Committed" is pretty good. Keep laughing too! Smiler

On another note I ran across my son who was laughing his can off. He nearly fell out of the chair!
When I asked him what was so funny, he sad that he felt a tinie-tiny depressed so he just did what Lucinda said and thought of something funny. He said he pictured a Nation full of "Statues with frowns" Smiler Big Grin

Well, whatever Big Grin

I was just thinking about Seinfeld last night! I love that show. Three's Company is one of my all time favorites. I watched it religiously growing up. I had a small crush on Jack Tripper! Big Grin I still catch the reruns on tv.

Good comedies are hard to come by these days, no originality! There was a GREAT show on back in the 90's called 'Cybil' with Cybil Shepard. But it wasn't her that stole the show, it was her side-kick Mary Ann played by Christine Baranski. The show did good I thought but only lasted a few years. I was sad to see it go. Frowner

Bika,
Here is a couple of more for you. I grew up with these as well, always watched them when I got home from High School in the 70's.

The Jeffersons Big Grin

Sanford and Son Big Grin

I also like movies that are somewhat funny and warm, very warm and "uplift" the Human Spirit in some way.
I grew up watching "Wizard of Oz" and have watched it dozens of times throughout my life. It was made in the early fourties (1942 I think) and was made in "TECHNICOLOR" which was so highly advanced that even TODAY it is hard to duplicate.
The "Sound of Music" is another favorite of mine.
And yes, "Gone With the Wind" is another.
I do not think any recent movies compare or come close to these accept perhaps one , rhetorically speaking...and that is the first Spider Man. This movie contained a real "innocense" about it which I appreciated.
In my view, with all the other garbage films this movie caught something that is missing in so many films.
Kindeness, sensitivity, that first kiss, all in innocense, and not polluted with sex.
And BTW, it was a big hit with hosts of young teenage girls and women, wonder why?

I actually liked both Spider-Man movies. I was surprised because I'm not that fond of that kind of genre of movie. I think it's because I like Tobey Maguire, good actor, added a more human touch to the movie.

My husband is a HUGE comic book fan and LOVES Spider-Man. He said both movies worked well because Tobey fit the character of Peter Parker perfectly. Not a striking, dashing hero, just a nice quiet boy with a big heart.

Oh yes, even the reruns are great. I've gotten kinda bored with the Simpsons after all these years (11+ it seems), but FOX is bring the Family Guy back which I think will be good too. I like Stewey. Anyone else for comical cartoons?

How about japanese anime? There's some funny ones. Slayers is straight out comedy--spoof on your idealized medieval heros.
