Hi everyone,
Was wondering how everyone felt about near death experiences? Do you believe in them? If you do, do you believe that what they claim is the light of unconditional love is really god? I have read that those who have had these experiences live lives that are free of depression afterwards. They say that they were able to tap into a infinite intelligence where they knew answers to anything they wanted to know about. I find this topic quite interesting, and was wondering how the members of this forum feel about this. Maybe some of you know of people who have expereinced these. take care, jim |

Hi Jim,
You brought up an interesting topic/question. Normally, it's after a person stops breathing and the heartbeat ceased, it takes several minutes before gradual cessation of the life-force in the body cells begins. If the person's body is subjected to severe cold, that process can be delayed for hours. It is for this reason, it is sometimes possible to revive persons by means of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. They were what is termed "clinically dead." However, their body cells were still alive. Many persons who revived from "clinical death" remember nothing. Still others say they saw beautiful things. And yet others were terrified by their experience. Wrote the The Arizona Republic: "When physical prowess is at its lowest ebb, as under anesthesia, or the result of disease or injury, automatic control of bodily functions diminishes accordingly. Thus, the newrohormones and catecholamines of the nervous system are released and pour out in uncontrolled quantity. The result, among other manifestations, is hallucination, rationalized after returning to consciousness, of having died and returned to life." --May 28, 1977, p. C-1; also the German medical journal Fortschritte der Medizin, No. 41, 1979; Psychology Today, January 1981. So there may be testimony of those who were revived that even say deceased loved ones have appeared to them and spoken. However, that is not scripturally the case. "The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all." --Eccl. 9:5. "His spirit goes out, he goes back to his grownd; in that day his thoughts ["thoughts," KJ, 145:5 in Dy; all thinking," NE; NAB] do perish." --Ps. 146:4 "'Lazarus our friend has gone to sleep.'...Jesus said to them outspokenly: 'Lazarus has died.'" (Also Psalm 13:3) "He poured out his soul ["soul," RS, KJ, Dy; "life," TEV; "himself," JB, Kx, NAB] to the very death." --Isa. 53:12 The soul is the person themselves, their life as a mortal. Not something separate within the body. The only thing that leaves the body after death is the breath (spirit- life force). (Gen. 2:7) There is one that wants humans to believe otherwise. Gen. 3:4; Rev. 12:9; Lev. 19:31; Deu. 18:10-12; Isa. 8:9 and Eph. 6:11, 12 Jim, I hope my sharing may provide addtional in sight on the topic you presented. Sincerely, Victoria |
