My neurologist suspected this for a couple of years. He finally confirmed last month after a MRI. I have MS. Any advice?

Educate yourself as much as possible. Quite a bit has been found out about prolonging quality of life, probably because so many well known people have had your diagnosis during the past 20 years. First and most important, find a primary doctor who is on top of his or her game with current MS treatments, and do your best to stay on top of this, yourself. Take care.

Hi, first of all I'd like to say that I am very sorry that you have been diagnosed with this condition.
I would like to know what kinds of symptoms that you were having while you were waiting to be diagnosed. I am terrified that I may have this as well & have a neurologist appt. in 2 weeks. Please send me any information that would be helpful - thank you! My email address is cracie_fl@yahoo.com I will be praying for you & please remember that God will give you strength in your times of weakness. God Bless You! God is Always with Me & He will get me through this! |

Hi, I'm so sorry that you got the diagnosis! A good friend of mine has had it for over 25 years now, and you couldn't tell if you met her. She has had two children and a full-time job as a teacher, but she did change careers to do something that is very spiritually focused and personally extremely fulfilling to her, instead of a well-paid, very commercial job.
She has dedicated herself to staying healthy - she follows an extremely strict diet, and does tend to try every new thing that comes out in alternative health... but the basis for her diet has kept her in great shape, I think. She also makes sure to get enough rest and not overburden her system. She knows that if she starts getting exhausted, her one leg starts dragging a little, and that's when she has to hit the breaks immediately. She has had two major paralysis attacks that both landed her in hospital, but has recovered completely from them and suffers no after-effects. I have been told that the longer you have it with few symptoms, the better your prognosis is. I hope you have as few symptoms and as fulfilling a life as my friend! |
