Hi kt7,

Yes the program has worked better than meds for myself. I am still on 2 anti-depressants, but almost completely off of anti-anxiety meds. This program is based upon cognitive therapy. Cognitive therapy has been proven in short and long term studies as very effective in treating anxiety and depression and there are many who completely recover. I have a post under Tape 12: The Courage to Change - Cognitive Therapy Proven as Effective AS Meds. That will give you some more info on how effective it can be. Smiler

Yes, it has. I have just completed step 15. Do I still occassionally suffer from bouts of anxiety?
Yes. However, I now feel I have the skills to help turn those moods around. Actually I don't think this program actually has an end. I think of it as setting me on the path toward the piece of mind we all desire.

Good Luck!

I THINK DON53 HAS THE RIGHT TUDE. I AM NEW ALSO AND HAVE NOT PRE JUDGED THE PROGRAM. IF WE ARE GRASPING FOR STRAWS THEN STRAWS ARE ALL WE'ER GONNA GET.

GIVE IT A TRY I KNOW I AM. THINK OF IT AS LIFE OR DEATH. YOU CAN GET MORE MOTIVATIVED THAT WAY.

Yes, yes, yes. It has helped tremendously. I was just thinking about it this past week as I noticed how I had nodded off to sleep on the airplane even before take-off. Before the program, I couldn't even imagine flying, much less falling asleep on the plane. I even took a spontaneous trip to San Francisco and never even gave it a second thought. And I used to be the one who constantly looked for the exits when sitting down in a room, wondered what would happen if I had a panic attack in a strange place, and wondered so much what people would think of me if I had a panic attack that I avoided almost everything. I agree with nnancy -- this program provides the tools to get one on the path to recovery and helps you understand that you don't have to live with the fear of anxiety and panic attacks. Take it one step at a time and stay positive. You really do have to learn to think differently. Good luck!

YOU MEAN I CAN GET ON A PLANE AND FLY? THIS IS MY "BIG ONE", I HAVE NEVER DONE IT BEFORE AND NEVER REALLY INTEND TO. WHAT IF I HAVE GOT TO GET SOMEWHERE FAST? I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HOLLAND OR HAWAII. DON'T HAVE TIME FOR A BOAT TRIP.

I HAVE MADE OVER 40 TRIPS AROUND THE SUN IN MY LIFE ON SPACESHIP EARTH. BUT A STEPLATER FREAKS ME OUT. AIRPLANE, I DON'T SEE IT IN THE NEAR FUTURE. (WE SHALL SEE)
