I feel a bit bummed that I'm not one of those the workbook references that have "come so far and can't believe they've changed so much, so fast". I've had a lot of success and have started changes, but it's not the dramatic recovery that I dreamed of having once finished with this program.
Anyone else feeling that? I have "growth spurts" often but I see that they never really changed in the first place and I still have a lot of work to do. One great thing is that I can more clearly see what areas I have yet to grasp. ex: expectations and scary thoughts still get me sometimes, although not as badly. What's a positive replacement for this situation? |

Positive replacement for this situation is to remember that it takes some time to undo what's been done. You must think about how long it has taken you to become a professional at negative thinking....... and now...... to completely change all that is going to take some time. In fact, I think it takes longer for your brain to accept the truth, than it does for your brain to accept the lies of negativity. It's about HABITS.... creating new habits take time. The longer you work towards positive reinforcement, the more you will see positive habits of thinking take place- if you practice them enough- pretty soon, they will take over on their own and become part of your subconscious mind. Be kind to yourself- remind yourself that you still need to work hard and the rewards are well worth the effort. There is no specific time limit on healing and recovery- in fact, everyone is different. YOU are special and unique- EMBRACE THIS ABOUT YOURSELF and GIVE YOURSELF THE TIME YOU NEED- YOU ARE WORTH IT!! " You must do the thing you think you cannot do." Eleanor Roosevelt |
