It will be one year this December since I first hit bottom and finally made the decision to change my behavior. I am petrified that I will end up feeling the same way I did this time last year. It hit me especially when I woke up a week or so ago to the first cold morning. I often have flashbacks to thoughts, actions, behaviors and feelings that I have a year ago and am scared I am headed in that direction and I don't want to go there. I know I am not but don't understand why they are still around. Even the dreams I have are continously touching upon areas I have been continously working on and I am patiently waiting for them to stop because following them I wake up in such a blurr that I can't even think. If there are any suggestions to help me get through this time it is greatly appreciated. HELP!

Congratulations on your anniversay. As with any emotional disturbance it leaves scars. Sometimes anxiety can creep on you. The good news is that you have to tools to conquer!

I can completely understand where you are coming from. September marked 4 years for me. I know it can be toughbecause its not a celebration type of anniversary. But think of how much you have changed for the better. I did a lot I wasnt proud of a few years ago and also realized the the life I was beginning to lead was not in my or my daughters best interest. I know it is hard but also remenber that the changing of seasons can also strongly influence the way we feel. Stay strong and remeber why you have decided to change your behaviors and if you are succeeding then congratulate yourself of all you have accomplished this year.
i always here if you need me. Tammy |

Hi Nev,
I think there is a book that would be very beneficial to you right now. One that you can pick up for support anytime you need. You can turn to any page it will lift you out from where you are at. It's called "Embracing the Present" by Leonard Jacobsen. You can order it online. It is not a religious book but it is about Truth as Leonard understands and teaches it. It really opened my eyes. You are identifying with your thoughts. Practice observing them instead. This is a challenge for us all but well worth the practice. Be the watcher of your thoughts. When you find yourself identifying with them bring your attention back to watching them (using a moving cloud is a good visual) or watching your feelings and where any sensations are in your body. Do not be self sabotaged by your thinking mind. Acknowledge that you know what it is doing and you will not be a part of it anymore. Blessings to you. "Life is not about comfort. It is about living." Hi Nev,
Another thought is that many people have problems with the holidays and about this time of year the commercials start. Or the cold weather may have been a trigger but remember you've made it a whole year!! That's AWESOME! Congratulations!!! I've done the program and gone back to it several times. The first time I went through every piece, the second time I concentrated more on the workbook and the third time I hit on the areas that I knew needed work. Now whenever I feel a little nudge I pull out the materials and focus on whatever feels out of whack. Hope that helps! |
