I have found that I can keep a certain amount of my stress from turning into anxiety by not being overly concerned about material things, secular prestige or costly customs. I look toward the ant as an example of the need to be industrious while not anxious for the things of this system. I personally have not taken on any addictive and costly habits that could become a source of stress followed by anxiety. I also keep myself morally in tune thus not creating anxiety which could possibly result in complications and guilt. My husband and I exceed in communication and have an excellant marriage based on genuine love and companionship. We have inculcated moral principles and spirituality into our children which values they always keep even now as young adults. I wish to make it clear that I know that neither myself or my children are infaliable and that we could slip and fall from our values. However, if that were to happen - I hope we would be able to learn from this and grow.

I'm sharing these things because I noticed that this new folder has no postings and yet is an excellant topic. I want to make it clear that I'm simply stating how I prevent my stress from turning into anxiety. I'm not stating that this is what others should do for we all have our own personal choices, values and beliefs that are to be respected. I'm simply sharing how I "keep my stress from becoming anxiety."

This folder is excellant and I would like to see further replies. There is not a person on earth that is not daily faced with stress. Stress from imperfection, illness, secular work, schooling, economy, personal conflicts (being misunderstood,)wars and terrorism. We can't possibly eliminate all of them in our lives. However, we can do what might be possible to reduce some areas of stress in our personal lives. What can't be eliminated or reduced needs to be handled the best way possible so that it doesn't become anxiety. Obviously, we all have an area of stress that has resulted in anxiety - our common bond - or we would not be writing on this forum.

Growth can come by accepting what cannot be changed and learning to grow from it while having an in depth knowledge that can be reflected toward others in the form of empathy.

For me, "spirituality" has been foremost in helping me cope when I remember to look beyond myself.

Just my thoughts . . .

I had a minor relapse last June due to environmental factors making it difficult to take care of myself. I now know what exahaustion does to a person. What have I done to combat it all? Excercise and diet. As the program says. Mostly my running. I am ready once again to try a 5k. And if I keep it all going for another year I will qualify for the SR. Olympics in my area. You have to 50 or older. I will be by then. My running is the one thing I have in my life that makes me feel good about myself. That and the fact that I am good at setting goals and meeting them. Therefore I rely heavily on it.

Hi-This is my way of keeping stress from turning in to anxiety. First I identified my stressors in life so when those times hit I just keep reminding myself to take good care of me as I am in a vulunerable phase. As for everyday life I just stay in the present and when I have a full day I just stay focused on one task at a time and keep going till all are completed. Also I work on having a positive attitude as our subconcious only knows what we tell it!!! Good Luck to all Timber
