Funny subject line, but three times (approx. every 6 months)I've actually gotten very light-headed, sweating profusely, rolling waves of anxiety etc...and had to be helped by someone to sit down or I pass out. Every time this happens, I have to rebuild my confidence up again. I've gone to the doctor and my bloodwork is fine, my bad back may be a culprit, but I'm guessing that anxiety makes this occur. I know the program talks about panic and anxiety not being able to really hurt you--but it's hard to convince myself of that when I find myself lying on the floor nearly passed out. I'm hoping that a medical cause can be determined, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this occur this severely? Most of the time, I have a wave of anxiety and I can cope and calm down--but sometimes, this happens. Confusing.

I remember a panic attack where I was so dizzy and my legs so jelly like that I was wobbling to go sit down. I thought Iwas going to pass out. Youdid say you 'nearly' passed out. Did you actually lose consciousness or just felt like it? Just curious.

The only time I ever got that bad was when I tried PAXIL for about two weeks and once when I tried Tofernil (Immiprimine) for about the same amount of time.

AND, once when my back hurt so bad I almost fainted.

Both have side effects of low blood pressure when standing and you can faint.

That is not an uncommon side-effect of anti-depressants. That is why my doctors finally gave into what really works, anti-anxiety drugs like XANAX.

When I first started getting really bad anxiety attacks, they were just like you are describing. I felt very dizzy, my legs felt like they were going to give out and I really thought that I was going to pass out. I still sweat profusely when anxiety acts up and it causes some very bad stomach aches and irritable bowel syndrome. It is crazy what our bodies go through when we are stressed and anxious. You are not alone!!!

One thing that helps me to figure this problem out --what were you just thinking about or what has been on your mind? Or possibly did you see something that upset you. I don't quite pass out but sometimes I feel for a second that I am spinning and then I say Ah Hah! that comment upset you...or what just happened was not pleasant...etc.

I used to think that nothing upset me but you can't always act like you are tough. You have to admit to yourself when things bother you. It is a process but it will eventually work itself out.

Thanks everyone. I guess I didn't realize what a strong reaction people can have to anxiety--to the point of fainting. Yes, I actually did faint briefly (from standing to falling on the floor), but wasn't unconscious or anything. I just don't remember falling. Well, I'm working with a doctor on it, but it probably was a combination of my back bothering me and anxiety. I was worried about standing in front of this class and having an anxiety attack. Exactly what happened. Ugh. One step at a time I guess. I'll keep reviewing the program! thanks much.
