I thought that it would be a great idea to share ideas on what we do to prevent daily stress from becoming full blown or little anxiety attacks.

I'm exercising about 5 (or more) times per week.
I don't drink coffee/alcohol, don't smoke, don't eat meat and have cut sugars (junk food, cakes, etc) from my diet.
When feeling tired I try to sleep more and rest my body accordingly.
Issues that come up, I try to deal with as much in advance as possible.
I try to be honest with myself and others.
I'm taking St. John's wort and stress formula pills (vitamin B) as well as a multivitamin.

I would love to hear and learn what others are doing so that I can incorporated these strategies in my daily life.

Please and Thank You.

Cutufa,
I may not be able to help because my list is almost identical to yours but I can tell you that it is working for me and my new lifestyle and outlook has allowed me to deal with daily stress before it becomes intense anxiety.
1)I'm exercising about 5 times a week, this includes 2 nights of yoga which I look forward to every week.
2)I eliminated all caffiene and reduced my drinking to just special occassions, I have had about 3 in the last 3 months which is a lot better than the weekend binges I use to do every week.
3)I wake up a little earlier than I use to so I can take my time getting ready in the morning and not be in a rush.
4)I begin to unwind about 2 hours before bed by listening to the relaxation tape or just some calm music while I read or write in my journal.
5)I'm also taking St John's Wart as well as Gingko Biloba and a multi-vitamin.
6)I handle things as they come up and try not to anticipate what may or may not happen. If I begin to feel stress, I take a deep breath and refocus so I can put it into perspective, this usually lifts the stress immediately.

Sorry I couldn't help too much Cutufa but thanks for posting this topic, it made me realize how much my lifestyle has changed.

I like the book says: Panic to Power,
there were 3 points and I don't have the book handy, but I am trying not to: 1) over-react, I am now trying to UNDER-REACT to things. This saves me a lot of energy and I find under-reacting, I keep calm, keeping stress at "bay" and then it doesn't reach anxiety levels. the other thing is 2) eliminate. I try to eliminate being around situations/people etc. who will give me stress. The third point was good to, but the first point UNDER-REACT to things...is very good and very realistic on a job especially because you can't make co-workers, or a bad bosss go away if they are on you 'neck', just under-react be a COOL-CAT (think of Hilary Clinton, Jacqueline Kennedy - head up, don't swim in it - for a positive image...??)
Anyways, that's my 2-cents.
Sincerely,
a fellow-sufferer...who-is-making-changes
