hi everyone.

it's been awhile since i've visited this website. i stopped doing the program after week 11 b/c it was becoming more stressful for me to make time to do more lessons than to simply use what i had been taught.

anyway, i had been doing very well for several months after stopping with the program. i rarely had an anxiety attack and almost never did they bloom into full blown panic attacks.

however, they've started to come back. this past week i traveled out of state to visit my boyfriend. i had a panic attack on the plane as it was landing (though oddly enough not while it was taking off). I've had a couple more throughout this week and they've resulted in IBS and reflux, which is typical for me.

i definitely feel myself slipping back into the mindset that breeds anxiety. i've been trying to figure out what i'm so anxious about that it's manifesting in anxiety attacks and body symptoms, but i can't figure it out. so now i'm trying to not worry about them, but that's kind of difficult when traveling.

does anybody have any advice or similar experiences? maybe i just need to go through parts of the program again.

gwoman,

Sorry to hear that the anxiety decided to visit. Do not fear...take the program out and do it ALL over again.

I would start in the very first lesson. If the program is too stressful to complete in 1 week, take 2-3 weeks to do it. I did. I did not want to stress over it. No need to stress over trying to un-stress, right?

Have you sticked with the diet and excercise? If you have been eating out, maybe the diet has something to do with it. Coffee, soda, sugars, white flour products like pasteries, cookies, cakes, candy, ice cream? I have started to walk 3 miles a day when I noticed my anxiety body symptoms that were gone came back when I went on prednisone (a med), but not problematic, I can manage it until it is time for a Zoloft for my depression as long as I get my walk in.

I still review the lessons, the ones I feel I need a little help with. That is ok, that is why we pay for the program. We can benefit from it for a lifetime.

Do not let this scare you. You are going to be able to take the program out and work on it. You can overcome this You did it before, so you CAN do it again! That's the beauty of it. There are people that have done the program once, twice, three times or review the lessons as needed. That is OK. You need to do things at your own pace, but DO THEM! Make the time, invest in yourself! You are so very worth it.
Keep us updated, ok? I know you are going to do great! Never give up!

Take care! LizB

Hi, GWoman. Glad to meet you.

My advice would be ...

.. if you're thinking that you should maybe go through parts of
the program again, then why don't you just finish up the
program thoroughly?

I mean, there is a reason why Lucinda insists that we do
the program each step at a time, numerically, and in its entirety.

Don't you find it more than coincidental that you're having
relapses not long after discontinuing the program?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm?? Smiler

I hope you make out okay, though. You may also be nervous about
this guy. Many things can trigger it, I'm sure. However,
if your anxiety is genetic, it will most likely be
that much more difficult for you to recover. But just knowing
that it is genetic, and also knowing that whoever it was
in your family who had it did not die from it and neither will you
can make it easier to deal with, as well.

Take me, for instance. My mother had agoraphobia and
sleep disorders, and now I do. And she is still alive and
quite healthy at age 63.
