Tony,

When my anxiety was really bad i used to panic non-stop. I would have panic attacks that lasted anywhere from 5-8 hours. Talk about a pain huh? Wink

You're definately not alone in having a lot of panic. Here are a few questions to ask yourself...Do you fear these symptoms still? Are you allowing yourself to "float" through without analyzing it? Are you using that positive talk?

Remember, when that very first sign of panic comes, stop for a minute. Before you allow your mind to scare you, ask yourself "Is there a reason to panic?" "Did i watch something on TV, hear something, or read something that would make me feel this way?"

LadyLynn (A forum memeber)put up a quote in here once that i think was really helpful she said ..."I thought about all of you and I knew that someone else at this very moment was going thru the same thing. I knew I wasnt alone. I knew that no matter what I was going thru that atleast one of you guys would understand and know exactly what I am going thru."....Maybe you could use that as a reminder that these symptoms can't harm you? There's always someone who is feeling the same thing.

With anxiety, the more we look at the symptoms, the more we start to worry, the more we worry, the more we panic, the more we panic the stronger the symptoms get, until we are totally freaked out. See if you can allow these symptoms to happen without worrying about that. I know its waaay easier said than done, but with time, you will see that if you just let these symptoms happen, without panicking, they will start to go away. Also, this panic/fear has never harmed you before right? So look at all of the times you have worried, but still tured out just fine Big Grin .

I hope this was of some help and i hope you're able to overcome your panic attacks soon. Take good care!

Doyle

I've had all the symptoms you described. It is terrifying, but once you accept that none of these are life-threatening, you will pull thru it and they will lessen. The weird vision stuff happens to me now and then still, but I know that it's just part of the disorder and it always goes away.

Don't sweat it, Keep working on your skills and remember to FLOAT. You can do it!

Good luck,
Leslie

Hi Tony,

I had panic attacks everyday for over thirty years. Sometimes it would be one long stream of panic all day long. I survived it,Tony, and so will you. Make it OK to be there. Resistance to the feelings keep them alive and coming back. Allow the feelings. Describe them. Do your best to stay out of your thinking mind by staying with the feelings in your body. They are harmless. The feelings are not the problem. Try to understand this. The discomfort and sensations you feel are the resistance to those feelings. Let them pass through you. They will. Learn to feel them come and go. You are teaching yourself to be unafraid of them. Practice. Leave thoughts in midair and always go to the feeling in the body. You'll go back and forth from thought to feeling for awhile but be consistent in always returning to the feeling.

You'll make it. You'll be fine. You will recover.

Blessings,
Bon

Tony

I've had all of those symptoms. They would last from hours to days. When I first got the program in May 2001, I was a wreck. I had so many body symptoms that I couldn't even walk down the hallway of my apartment properly. I was so dizzy, shaky and headachey. I felt like I was dying. My day consisted of laying in bed listening to Lucinda and watching tv. This went on for 7 months. Then one day last November, I woke up feeling good. My body symptoms diminished significantly. Every day is getting better for me. I haven't had the debilitating body symptoms now for almost 3 months. I am so grateful for the program. Sure, I have a few bad days, but I can bounce back from them quicker now. I guess my advice would be, patience. It will come for you. Keep working on your skills. They do work.

Take Care

Yes Vince,

There will be waves of panic at times. Stay with the feeling. Do your best to keep out of your thinking mind. By staying with the feeling in this way you will notice a decrease in the waves. Stay with the feelings for as long as it takes. Practice over and over and over again.

Blessings,
Bon

I know exactly what you are saying about getting rid of one symptom only to have another appear. I'm new to the program but I like one suggestion I read that said to think about all of the other times you've worried and the things you worried about and they didn't hurt you. You survived. I'm am confident things will get better.

What happens is you get so used to DEemphasizing it and ignoring it that as you practice everything and develop self confidence that you can see it all as funny. I am still tired a great deal of the time though. But I have learned to laugh at myself alot and to see things in perspective. You WILL improve with time. And yes, I am tired of it all as well. Get busy doing other things. You will be fine.

Oh, I know exactly what you are desribing Tony. And I really don't inderstand when people say "Panic attacks won't kill you." Excuse me but my blood pressure is SKY HIGH during an attack....is that good for you?!?
Anyway...yes the blurriness, feeling unstable, disorintation, visibly shaking...you name it.I've tried the Floating thing but so far all I want to do is FLOAT out the damn door of my workplace where I have my attacks. What I've learned is TIME heals all wounds and on that note I'll flooooat as the hours pass by! LOL
Good luck, Jim

I had those daily panic attacks or years.Sometimes they can really appear to be taking over you whole life. I cried , and tried all sort of thing to cope with them. T he fact that i could not get rid of them make me suffer wit depression so be careful I'm sorry i was not on the program then and knew the importance of positive thinking. Now it;s a daily reminder theat it's onlu anxiety , i pray , take my antidepressent and go about my life,
I no more panic attacks per say, just feeling of nervousness now . i stop it before it gets to the panic stage. You'll learn too. Best of luck.
