Hello friends. I guess lately I must be experiencing generalized anxiety and I am not handling it very well. I feel as though each minute of my day is plagued by an occasional wave of anxiety. A reminder that it is still happening inside of me. I feel that I am unable to positively talk or deep breathe myself out of it. It was with me all day yesterday and I took 1/2 a klonopin around 6pm. I fell asleep around 8pm and when I awoke at 9pm I was very groggy but immediately began to have a panic attack. I was unable to sleep for most of the night and I found myself just counting to keep my mind occupied.

I am very confused and frightened.

Shawn.

Hi Shawn,

Be encouraged today!! As distressing as your symptoms are... be determined to make yourself LIMP and FLOAT with them. It's very difficult when we do really well and just when we think we are almost cured, we find our symptoms of panic coming back.
But I want to share with you that in order to overcome it, you must accept that you will have good days and bad days. Your healing will take place over a certain amount of time (everyone is different), LET TIME PASS and float with your symptoms.

When you get confused and frustrated, it only causes more stress which causes more symptoms which causes more FEAR and panic.
You keep yourself in this negative stress cycle and the only way out, is to literally, LET GO and ACCEPT your symptoms.
And also to tell yourself the truth about them in the meantime.

You'll be OK. If there is anything I can do, let me know.

I know how you feel. I have times when my anxiety will just bubble up and over. I remind myself that this is temporary and I will feel better in a few days. In the meantime, I walk, watch what I eat, and do my best to underreact to all the symptoms and feelings. Keep busy cleaning or reading or something. Just becuase whenyou do your breathing or relaxations and it doesnt immediately disappear doesnt mean there is anything wrong or that this is permanent. RElax, give yourself a few days and use your compassionate talk. WHat would you say to me if I felt bad? Say it to yourself over and over again. You will feel better in a few days.

Confused and frightened are aspects of life. Do not let them scare you too badly. If you try to stay calmly in the moment you will find there is nothing to fear. Thoughts... only thoughts.
