I worked all my life even with the anxiety and depression. Now I am retired.
I help everyone else. Then stay home for days but I do not get anything done.
I saw Lucinda's video tape 1 today. She says agoraphobia is not wanting to do anything for fear of feelings. But why at home when no one is here. I am having a hard time with this. I take anxiety and antidpressants so I don't feel that anxious but still can not get motivated. I told my daughter the other day I do not want to do anything at all. Sounds like Agoraphobia. Does anyone out there have problems with
this. My house is a mess and I am gaining weight. Maybe the answer is to work for myself. I have great faith in the program just not in myself yet behaviorly speaking.
also are there any seniors out there that have lived with this all there life as I have?
Maybe we could talk.

Hi Mylies Mom Judy,

I can't seem to get motivated either. My house needs cleaning & I have other things I need to get done. It's very frustrating. I hope this helps! Smiler

Take care,

Hey yall! Realize that you are posting in lesson 13 but you are only on lesson 1! Time management is important for stress management but agoraphobia is something we can barely cope with. I know that yall will be dealing much more effectively by the time you get to this lesson. I have learned that the most important thing in this journey is to stick with it and more often than not the answers find their way to us and within us. So keep on keepin on and best of luck to you. Thankyou all for your feedback and support I want to jump to step 13 but I know from being in 12 step program years ago that you stay on one step as long as you need to.
jump ahead. I am on tape 3 now and since it is so important to get this one I will stay on it for another week. Then to tape 4 (if I am ready).

It is so good to feel part of something even if it is online. Your quotes and thoughts are so
appreciated.

From my heart to yours!

Hi-the weight gain can be from the antiprsseants and both medications can make you feel like doing nothing. I was in that position at one time so just go with flow and do the program and put your new skills in to practice and do not measure your progress in terms of days. I am retired as well and med free and basically have overcome my anxiety disorder so hang in there as it just takes time and lots of practice to get real good at changing our way of thinking!!!! Have a Great Day!!!!! Timber

That sounds more like just lack of motivation rather than agoriphobia. I went through this as well before I started and maybe until a few weeks into the program. I just didn't care. My house was a mess and yet I didn't want to clean it. The more I went through the program the more that dark cloud lifted and I got more motivated to do things. Maybe because I felt better about myself...not sure. But it will pass.

Hi Judy,

I would recommend working thru the program and giving yourself a chance to work on your skills. Then I would suggest as grateful suggested and checking out flylady.net .

That site has made a tremendous difference in my life. As well as this program. Both amazing to me.

Hugs, Reena
