I feel like I spend too much time on here. Not always. I guess giving myself a time limit would help. Does anyone else out there put a limit on the internet or a certain time of day? Just curious.

Hi Reena!

I am so glad you are curious about this. You know I've only been here a few weeks and I've been using this as a "tool" looking for people w/ similar situtions as myself.

When reading thru it I think, my gosh, how much time to people spend here when they could be out doing other things? Or maybe if they are housebound this is great! Or maybe they are just really fast typers which I am not.

For me I check in for about an hr. in the a.m. and the same in the eve. as I am also searching for a new home. We'll still be neighbors though!

Have a great day!
Diane

Dear Diane,
Thanks for responding. I think I feel guilty for being on here when there is always work to be done. But it doesn't amount to that much time at all. I guess I'm just being hard on myself, as usual. That perfection thing. Good luck on finding a house. I hope to be doing that in a few years after getting some bills paid down. My husband is still not sure. lol.
Take care, Reena

Hi y'all.....At first I was on here everyday....and now I have had to say, okay, once a week, or twice a week....but why put a rule on it...do it as much as you want...obviously it's something we like and need to do otherwise.... Let's not be so hard on ourselves! Remember - NO BIG DEAL!
New motto! Cheers.

Well I have to admit if I am not careful it can be ADDICTIVE! But it is also calming and relaxing. So, I just have to put my priorities first and look as this as desert or a treat. The secret for me is self-control.

But I must admit that writing and reading the postings helps one see they are not alone. And I am starting to post questions on every day stuff. This way I am thinking on being more of a doer and problem solver and getting ideas from smart and understanding people. You all!

Hi Reena:

I'm on here alot too. It helps me. It is probably helping you too. Hearing the thoughts of all of you helps me to complete my assignments. Sometimes I draw a blank with some of the questions - and some of the things posted jolts my subconcious. Have a great day

Hi all!

I would like to bring up this topic again now that I've been here for awhile. I'm really not sure how to say this tactfully, but I'll do my best ! If I am on here everyday it is obviously going to make me think about my anxiety. I'm pretty tired of thinking about it now for over 20 years!lol! So, I decided last week to go for I think almost a week w/o checking in here. I have literally dwelled on topics here and I know that isn't healthy for me. I just wanted to act 'as if' I didn't have anxiety what my life would be like. A little experimenting... I couldn't believe myself I got SO much accomplished and had SO much fun DOING things!!! Can anyone relate? Anxiety used to be w/ me every waking minute! It is so freeing to not have it constantly on my mind. I am amazed at my mental clarity. For instance, songs that I've listened to for years and now I am hearing the words!

I guess I am just curious if all of you post or read here everyday and what it does for your anxiety and/or depression?

Have a wonderful day!

Wow, I posted that seven months ago. There are times I don't check in for a few days. I usually get on once a day. There are so many posts to read and so many I want to respond to. I still think it takes up too much time. But that is something I need to deal with, I guess. My guilt! I do like it when I am not thinking aobut anxiety. I think I will give that week off a try. I do like the forum, it has helped me. Thanks for bringing this up. I would love to hear more opinions...

I check in daily or every other day just to keep me focused on my anxiety. I am real good at going on a weeks vacation and that turns into a months vacation and then I have a panic attack and I realize that it might not have been as bad if I had been taking care of my self like I should. I am really good at getting in denial about my anxiety and depression. Anyway, the forum helps me keep focused. It is sometimes easier for me to participate on the forum than to journal. Sometimes, I don't know what to write about in my personal journal so I count this as my journaling. Besides, it makes me feel like I am giving back if I can help someone else.

Does being on the Forum help you?

Do you get good input and ideas that help you get out into the world?

Do you feel better or worse when you are on this Forum?

FYI:
When I first found the forum I would be on for hours. Today, over a year later, I check in once or twice a day for about 15 minutes....AND it still helps me see how far I've come. I feel good when I get feedback from someone who feels like I did over a year ago and gets hope from reading once of my posts.
