Trapped at home in some furniture?

Stuck inactive at home overeating in some furniture?

Get rid of the couch! Seriously You can!

Get rid of whatever you may find yourself stuck in: Couches, chairs, etc. because the truest relaxation is not found in these.

If you want rest, then rest in one place and one place only: Your bed!
If you want to eat: Rediscover eating only at the kitchen table!
If you must watch TV: Watch peddling a stationary bike, walking a treadmill, or practicing yoga/stretches!

Not convinced enough to completely get rid of anything yet? Try just storing the offending furniture, or blocking its use with something such as placing empty boxes and bags on top of it.

I strongly suggest expecting any change like this requires more actively applying the coping skills from the program to better manage your own reactions as well as any strong reactions of others to this change.

Stay trapped at home in that furniture, or stay focused on the gains this change will stimulate.

ok, i'll take the challenge. i commit to myself for the next week I will only eat at the kitchen table. No more munching on the go. i will take the time to enjoy my meals, and relax during them. (I'm eating a pomegranate in front of the computer right now, but after this...) Anybody else want to make a change of habit for a week? We don't watch a lot of tv, but sometimes we deliberately unplug it for a month or 2 and it's great once you get used to it.

You know what Dolphin...

I have been telling my partner to get rid of all the sofas. I have always wanted to have all kinds of exercise equipment instead of couches. Of course not everyone in my household feels this way.

I don't watch too much tv either, while I do I often exercise... sit ups, weight lifting, push ups.

I'll take the challenge too, with a twist. Since I can't easily get rid of furniture, I will exercise each and everytime I watch tv from now on. Will rest only on my bed and eat only at the table.

I'm game!

Thank you Dolphin. Over the last few days I have been giving this a try. It may sound ridiculous but just the other day I got up from the couch and prepared the sink full of dishes and a load of laundry. I washed everything, completely rinsed the sink and the stove down and dried all the dishes and put them away. Usually I would leave at least one pan soaking or the cheese grater. LOL My husband would walk by me and say "Don't leave that water sit there all night for me in the morning."

This night though he walked up behind me and said "Holy moly she has given up her spot on the couch." Imagine being known as having your own spot on the couch. I said "Yep. Something has to change and I guess this is the way to do it." He said "Yep."
