Hi there-
Any Bay Area residents/participants know of where there are group sessions in our area? I live in Sunnyvale.
Thanks! Hope you are all doing well today. Me? Not bad for a Monday. As I like to say to myself, "I am active and participating in my day." Can't rememebr which lesson that's from but that's a good one!
Thanks again-

Hi to you all, I am from the Monterey County area and now live in the Southern Oregon area. When I visit home I would love to know of any support groups there. If you know of any here in my So. Oregon area that would be awesome.
Thanks and hope all of you are doing great!

Hi All,
I'm not from the Bay Area, but I ran across this article on Dr. Fear, due to another poster mentioning his book in the book sharing forum. And I thought it may interest you as he holds anxiety seminars in the Bay area. They are very reasonably priced and he appears to have lots to share. I could see one benefitting a great deal from these seminars. I believe in incorporating as many positive things as possible along with the Midwest program as the Midwest also encourages.
He himself struggled with anxiety disorder for I believe 31 years. Any ways, just thought I'd mention it.

HI SUSAN AND RAMONA!!! Smiler

Haven't had a chance, yet, to email. So many unexpected things happened this week, the most shocking (in a good way) was a girlfriend of mine, who i haven't been able to see for over 10 years, arrived on my doorstep two days ago. She lives at the other side of Canada. I was SO surprised to see her (which was how she intended it) that i burst into tears, so unnverving!!!
So, between my girlfriend being here until the 20th of the month, and an entire week being upside - down with other unexpected things, and my brother and his twin girls arriving here next week ~ suddenly the month of July is looking a bit overwhelming. whew! Roll Eyes But i'll get back to you.

God bless,
Love ya,
Lindaloooooooo

Hi, people. I'm in Sunnyvale, and haven't heard of any news as far as support groups go except for Dr. Fear (thank you for the link!).
I've been out of the program about 4 weeks now, and am starting to go through it again while taking new notes. You DO learn new stuff each time you listen to a tape.
I am excited right now. I work for a very small roofing company in San Jose (about 5 office personnel) and my boss has revealed to me that he's dissolving the company and taking it to another construction company that is trying to start up a roofing division. They want to hire me on. I already have anticipatory thoughts "what if i'm too anxious at a big corporation (so what if, right? I'll use my skills and get over it)", "what if they make me work until 5pm? I would much rather work 7-4, or 6-3 instead of 8-5 (explain why you prefer these hours {night classes} and see if this is negotiable. If not, flow with it until you can renegotiate however you see fit)", "what if I don't get to keep my company cell phone? (this company is HUGE so chances are you will have a company distributed cell phone, though even if you don't you will buy yourself a personal one whenyou get a chance)"
You guys see what I'm doing? I'm having my anticipatory thoughts, and countering them with realistic thoughts to ease my anxiety about such an exciting change. Of course I'm anxious! I'm moving from a small mom and pop company to a 70 million dollar, 650 employee operation where I will be in a managment position and I'm only 27.
I had to vent these thoughts, and I knew that this was the place to do it. I'll be attending De Anza college for the Fall semester get my Bookeeping certificates. While I am there, I'll see if the staff has ever considered anxiety classes or group therapy seminars on campus. I'm sure a lot of students could benefit from them. I'll let you know if I hear anything. Have a wonderfully exciting day! Keep the positve thoughts coming. "Get addicted to the good stuff!"
