I'm not sure if it's just me, but I am finding that the relaxation tape is not relaxing. I have no interest in doing the one that was provided. Is this normal? Has anyone else felt like this? I bought a relaxtion cd with just music. I listen to this all the time. My biggest concern is if I don't use the relaxation cd provided that the program isn't going to work for me. I'm very worried about this. I will play it in the morning when I am getting dressed...but that is about it. Am I messing up this program??

Hi. I want to suggest that the relaxation CD provided is not totally essential for the program except that one of the most common causes of\'side effects' of anxiety disorder is not being able to relax. Does your other CD work? Can you ever relax by other means? It seems to be an important skill to learn in order to deal with anxiety as a whole. I have been finding recently that I only relax when I get some gentle touch, like a shoulder rub or what have you.

Set aside a time to do the tape. Don't worry about 'relaxing'. It probably is boring to you, which just shows our addiction to stimulation and low tolerance for frusration..ie..anything uncomfortable.

I found the first two parts of the relatation tape to be very helpful except I can not imagian the warmth. I would actually go into a panic attack during the last part where you are walking through the woods. This is only because I live in the country. My husband and I use to go four wheeling in the mountains often and there were parts where I would have to get off because we would get to a part that the extra weight could make us flip. There has been times when I have gotten off that there would be a copper head just a foot from me or mice which I have a total fear of. We would be getting stuck with briars. Once we saw a coyote who was watching a calf. I also picture rock slides that I am running from. I think that for most people it could be very relaxing I guess my mind is to active. I should add that I usually fall asleep before the last part starts so I am fine. I really enjoy it when I am laying down.

I find the relaxation tape a little corney. I like the idea of finding a different tape to serve the purpose.

There is a phenomenon called relaxation induced anxiety. It stems from Transendetial Meditaion. If the tape causes you anxiety, then don't do it. I know there was a time I could not watch movies because I felt I was being 'pulled in'. Perhaps play the tape and just do stretching exercises; just something to interupt your normal whizzing mind.

Sometimes I find it hard to relax, but I think that if you try to do it first time in the morning, before even getting up of bed, it helps, and I doit again once I go to sleep...Thant is how I have been doing it, and its helping...

I ordered the relaxation cd two weeks ago. I didn't like it. I have the old program and the relaxation tape that I have with that one is GREAT! They still sell it but you have to ask for the OLD one. It's so relaxing. I even have my daughter listen to it when she's sick to put her to sleep. I still listen to it after all these years and it still works. I was only interested in the new one because I thought that maybe the made an even better one. I was wrong.
