Is anyone having trouble with weight gain while taking Paxil?
I have struggled with weight my entire life. My OB warned me about weight gain while taking Paxil so I tried Zoloft which he thought was better regarding the weight issue. I felt like a total basket case on Zoloft. My anxiety was much worse, I felt nervous, shaky and wanted to contstantly ring my hands. So I switched to Paxil and have felt really good. I have been on it for about 4 months and have never felt better. However, I have gained 10 pounds. My eating feels out of control. I feel like I have lost my discipline when it comes to snacking or making good food choices.
Any one have a similar experience or have any advice?

Are you on paxil cr or just paxil? I am taking paxil cr and have lost 15 pounds. Plus I am crying a lot in the mornings. I don't know if this is from the medication or not. But I am very frustrated.

I am on Paxil CR. I wish I was losing weight like you are! It's total craziness!
The crying stinks though. I don't have the problem and am sorry that you do.
Try getting yourself up and going! Don't allow yourself to wallow or go slow. Getting moving really helps!

Ive been taking paxil for the last couple of months. Its only 10 mg., but I am gaining weight. I never thought of the correlation, but im eating everything in sight....never been this fat.

i have the same problem, and it's one of the reasons I have gone off it twice in the past.
Unfortunately, I don't have any advice. I have been exercising, but that just makes me hungrier.

Hi guys, I have gained 10 lbs on paxil cr, but I am also Lifting weights and eating alot, i guess this goes along with taking the med, I feel alot better though, take care

I took paxil for close to 2 years and recently stopped taking it last July due to the weight gain. I gained 30 pounds taking paxil and dropped all of it in only a few months. The doctor said it was normal that I was gaining weight bc I was eating more but Eating extremly unhealthy. I am a tall person and didnt notice the weight for almost a year but I cant even tell you how many people I have heard have complained about weight gain on paxil.

I had exactly the same experience on Paxil, gained about 20 pounds. Came right off when i stopped taking Paxil.

I also had weight gain on Paxil. I have taken a few SSRIs and they all made me gain weight. I am on Wellbutrin XL now and have had no weight gain. Wellbutrin doesn't work well for anxiety, but it has helped with depression. Paxil does work though. It is a major trade off though.
