HI all,
I was wondering if anyone has tried this? It's brand new! XR is time released over 24 hrs so you don't have to keep taking it every few hours. My doctor prescribed me some to try. I have only taken it once (it is 1mg-comes in different doses.)It seemed to work well but my anxiety is usually in the morning hours only so I am not sure if I need 24 hour relief. Anyone else?

Hi queenlady,
It must be new, I havent heard of it. I know when I take .5 I fall asleep for the first 2 hours and then I feel hung over for the next 2-3 hours. I have heard it only last 4-5 hours. I would like to find out more about xanax-xr in a low dose to see if it would balance out the ups and downs. Do you take other meds with it? Does it help to improve the emotions? I am looking forward to hear more about it.

You may want to ask your Dr. about the new Xanax XR, which is time released over 24 hrs. It comes in different dosages. Then you don't have to worry about the highs/lows and tiredness of the short acting..

queenlady,
yes i took xanax xr 1mg to last year. Yes it worked real well for me, but i just couldnt afford it. But it actually keeps your anxiety under control better than just the xanax, it take a couple of weeks to get used to it. But, i went back to the regular cause they have generic and its much cheaper.. NellySmiler

Hello, I too am on it. I am doing well. It feels more level which is what it's supposed to do. No climax point like reg Xanax and then down in 4 hrs. I will still a reg X if needed but find I don't have to now. Ask your psychiatrist or pharm or anyone who knows the facts. Also, you cna go to their website.

Hello Everyone!

Ask me about drugs and I'll shall know! lol

I took the XR about 3 months ago- prescribed by my Psyc in order for it ot over act on behalf of the 2 mgs of Klonopin I was taken... I can tell you that it did NOTHING for me- I went to the regualr withdrawals like if I was on nothing- I was a nervous wreck, shaking, muscle spasm, loss of memory, forget sleeping- on the 8th day, I spoke to my neighbor whom is a pharmacist and advised me that if the XR (2mg per day) had not kicked in by then that it was not going to help me....i was on the XR and on regular xanax until i went to see my "Wonderful" Doc whom advised me to go back on Klonopin- something that I refused to do....i was determined to get off that drug....Well, now i am on 1.5 mgs of xanax (regular xanax_ per day... I take 1 mg in the AM and .5 around 4:00 or 5:00 PM....i really could take more but I am trying not to....i really want to be off meds for ever...I have being on Medication for far too long...since I was 8 or 9 years old and I am going to be 34 soon....you name it and I have taken it....ask and I shall tell!

Well, keep in mind that my experience with the Xanax Xr was a bit radical since I was going thru Withdrawals from the Klonopin.....maybe if I start on it now it might be different- but, hey these drugs are expensive so I'll stay on regualr xanax....

Did you that the Doctors get a kick back on Non generic Drugs????? I wonder why they prescribe so much??? HUMMM

Good Luck!

No, I have not heard of the new XR. I will ask about it since the regular Xanax does absolutely NOTHING for me. Thanks!

Hello Abby,

Xanax XR and Xanax are the same drug but the XR is long lasting. If Xanax doesn't work than you probably don't have the appropriate dose. You need to tell your doctor this so he can adjust.

Hope that helps.

Laughing out Loud at anxious Abby's signature. Falling on lobsters in the dark, lol, and some assembly required. Oh I wish I had those days of assembling my son's birthday and xmas toys to do all over again. The staying up late, the frustration, the love involved in all of it. It was work, but boy was it fun after I saw his face light up the next morning!!!! I'll cherish those memories 'til I die.

What about fearing the vampire coming to bite you on the neck in the middle of the night? That was my biggest fear growing up. Okay, now you can laugh. But it honestly was. Eeker Big Grin

agreeing with don about abby's sig.
good one.
and right don, i agree as well about those days when our children were young........and doing those things we thought ''mundane'' at the time. but those are the things life is made of. mundane can be good.
my fear? at 54 years old, i still must sleep with covers at least on my feet, even if it's 100 degree's out., cuz you never know when a monster will crawl up from under the bed and grab your feet. in my minds eye............covers will protect you. Big Grin

Exactly!!!! When I was afraid of Count Dracula or one of his buddies I'd pull the sheet over my neck. Hey, I'm still here, so it must have worked! lol. Thank goodness for bed sheets, protecting us while we sleep. What would we do without 'em? lol.

Uh oh.......it's a full moon out, I feel like howling. Confused Smiler Big Grin

Roll EyesI was on Alprazalom, same as Xanax the lowest dose, did not help due to my doctors secretary mistake my prescription was not called in. Went three days without it, the third day I drove my kids to school at a red light I started shaking violently, heart pounding I was going to die I just knew it. My kids in teens, got in front seat and drove to a parking lot called doctor and was prescribed Klonopin, nothing! Changed doctors put on Xanax XR, first 1/2 mg, then 1mg and now 2mg 3 times a day. Warning: ADDICTIVE HIGHLY, he didnt tell me this, my body wants more after some time, taking that and Alprazolam. Its a merry go around, I would stay away from Xanax XR LIKE THE PLAGUE, I dont because my attacks raise my blood pressure to as high as 198/116, and I end up in the ER and having head scans to make sure I did not have a stroke. Great medicine, if you want to depend on it all your life and have to keep increasing it. Sorry I am just very angry I was not told these things. Good luck
