I followed the Attacking Anxiety Program about 4 years ago and I was taking Prozac at the time. Stopped taking the prozac about 7 months ago and I am finding that I need the program again. Am very confident that I can do it this time around without the drugs. I really love this program and think it is wonderful. Has anyone else had this experience?

Hi Moonstar61!
Nope, I haven't had the experience, but I do have a similar goal! I thought by the time I have this program down pretty well I would start weaning myself off my meds. I'm almost ready to finish it for the third time. I am feeling better than ever. I know I will need these skills for life and want more than ever to be free of medication. Was it hard for you to get off the Prozac?
Best of luck to you!
Diane

Hi,
Thanks for Replying! The only thing hard about getting off Prozac for me was the fact that since the age of 14 I have been on meds for Panic, Depression and Anxiety, so it was the emotional dependence I had on them. Physically there are no problems. I am very happy to be drug free and I really am doing very well. There are just a few things I still need to work on but I know I can do it.
I still have a problem with panicing in heavy traffic and flying. I know I can do this though cause I am determined. I'm very glad the program is working for you. I think it is a wonderful thing. Thanks for replying.

Has anyone tried Kava to help them wean off any meds? I have been using it a few days and seems to be keeping me calm without the Ativan, so far I have been having at least some luck with it. It seems to take the edge off a little.

Hi, I havn't tried Kava, but I use a few others like Evening Primrose Oil Caps, Calcium, Sleepytime tea with extra Valerian Root or just Valerian Root Capsules, Bach Flowers also has a Rescue Remedy that is good and another Homiopathic one is Calms Forte. I have tried many of these and they are all very good if you need something to cut the edge with out taking Ativan. I heard that Kava is great also. I have read a lot of books on herbs and Homiopathic remedies.

I carry the Hylands Calms with me, although i don't use them as much as I used to- they aren't very expensive. I have been completely off Paxil for 2 weeks now, after weaning very gradually. I have used Kava before- just as needed and just got some to have on hand, but haven't needed it yet. the skills have really helped me the most.Good luck to all!
