i have been on lexapro for about 6 weeks (10mg), and my doctor thought i should start 20mg. today is my first day of the 20mg, and i feel like i'm having some of the side effects from when i first started. it could be my paranoia, and feeling that more anxious about taking more of a dosage. i don't want to be on medication forever - my doctor said i my only have to be on it for about 6 months - to help me now get through some rough spots. i'm also worried about getting off of the medication...w/drawal symptoms..etc. i have had succes so far, but i think taking more and having more in my system is making me freak about it. i know other people are taking lexapro, and i was just curious about your experience with this. thanks

Hi-I am on 10 mg of Lexapro. Are you seeing a psychiatrist or a General Practice Dr.? I find that the psychiastrist can dose these kinds of drugs better. My regular dr. wanted to up my dose and when I saw the psychiatrist he said no as long as I was doing so good with my tapes and relaxation things, why up it? Everyone is different-10 mg is a starter dose, so maybe for some reason they think you need more. Hang in there, things get better

thanks for the reply. the psycharitrist prescribed the 20mg. i'm having some of the same effects as when i first started. i know (rationally) that the symptoms calm down, but it does make me more anxious about being on the medication, and then alot of 'what if' about when i can go off. i know i need to stay in the here and now..but i'm not crazy about any of these feelings..

Hi.....I have been on Lexapro since June of this year. I started out on 10mg then up to 20mg. I did not have any side effects when I got my dosage increased. When I first went on Lexapro....my stomach was upset for a whole entire week but that was all. You will be fine! I think your just over thinking it because you know you had side effects when you first started on the pill. Good Luck!!!!!
