My anxiety got so bad in late April 03 that depression soon followed and it was all but unbearable. I started taking 1 mg of Ativan twice daily and it almost completely removed the anxiety and depression. Now that I'm at week 14 of the program I want to stop using it. I've been taking it for 2 1/2 months now and have cut the dose to .4 mg twice daily. It's a real science to get .4 mg out of a 1 mg pill Wink

I've heard a lot of bad stories about people ending use of the drug and the withdrawal symptoms. Has anyone out there had a similar experience or have advice? I would guess the anxiety symptoms will try to return, but I believe I'm much better equipped to deal now.

As for depression, has anyone tried L-Tryptophan and B-6? I've heard great things about it, but never actually talked to anybody that has used it. I read that there was a bad batch of it that caused some problems a long time ago, but it was a single incident of contaminated processing in Japan.

MACODI,

THEY SAY IT AIN'T ADDICTIVE. BUT I CAN'T THINK OF BEING WITHOUT IT. I LOVE THIS PROGRAM SO FAR...
I'M ON WEEK SIX AND WHEN I GET TO WEEK ELEVEN, I'LL LET YOU KNOW.

ARE YOU HAVING ANY SIDE EFFECTS, IF SO WHAT? I HAVE A FEW BUT THEY HAVE NOT AT ALL BEEN A PROBLEM. Cool

I WILL DO WHATEVER IS NESASARY. GOOD POINT TO START, BAD ONE TO FINISH! DIG IT.

Macodi, sounds like you are going about it the right way, gradual. I currently take ativan once a day. I used to take it twice a day as well ad prozac. I quit the prozac 2 weeks ago because of the side effects and yes some sympotoms came back, but it is ok since I know what it is and I tell myself they will go away, they always do.
Just keep doing what your doing and use less and less and know that you can do it.

when I tapered off of Effexor I used 10mg Prozac a day as a cushion. This GREATLY helped in ridding my body off Effexor.I tried three times prior to this to come off of Effexor and was unsuccessful. The Prozac leaves your body so slowly that you dont have much of any withdrawal, maybe a headache or two just depends on your body.I know nothing about Ativan so I cant help you there.I dont even know if its safe to take Prozac with ativan, definatley consult your Doc but this might be something that could help you. Also I took alot of Benadryl to alleviate some wierd withdrawal effects.Hope this helps.

Hi

Yes you can take prozac and ativan. I was prescribed both initially. I still take the ativan but only at night, I'm such a light sleeper and it helps me alot.
