I am taking 20mg of paxil once a day, I'm taking 15mg of buspar twice a day. And I've started taking dexotrin(sp?) for my bad case of A.D.D. But I just recently increased my buspar to the 15mg, it was 10 for a really long time, and sometimes I've been feeling lately a little cut off from reality. Sometimes I wonder if I'm going to become skitzophrenic. Is it possible the buspar could be causing these feelings of being cut off from reality. Is it possible the buspar could be causing this strange feeling? I think wierd thoughts sometimes and they don't even scare me when I feel they should. Has anyone heard of this happening on buspar, or could it be the combination of the two meds in too high of doses that could be causing this? Or do you know of a website in which I can find out about side-affects of buspar and paxil that cause a feeling of being cut off from reality. Thanks, I'd appreciate any good help.

It is very common to be prescribed an anti-depressant along with an anti-anxiety drug with no ill side effects.

Sometimes when we first start a medication we feel "nothing". We are so used to being soooo sad or soooo afraid that when it goes away we don't feel right.

When your diet changes (eliminating caffeine and sugars) and you begin to exercise (walking outside is a great one) on a regular basis you will hopefully start to notice "normal" ranges of feelings of life again.

GOOD LUCK! Betsy

Dear Adam

I personally think it can, at least partially, be due to meds. I also think that you know yourself better than anyone else and if you think the meds could be affecting you this way then they very well could be. However, keep in mind that these feelings are also symptoms of anxiety and depression. I would suggest you use your instincts and try to remeber if you felt this way before taking the medication. Like I said, you would be the best person to judge.

Just to let you know, I have had medication make me feel weird too, and I also know other people who have had the same problem.

Good Luck, Mellie

The answer to this question is well sought after believe me. One question I would really ask yourself is this.....How were you feeling before the meds? I have that cut off from reality on a daily basis but I have had it the entire time Ive been depressed with anxiety disorder. These are normal symptoms, as frustrating as they may be. Talk to your doctor and keep a journal of how you feel daily if you adjust your medications. This should be able to pinpoint if the meds are causing it. Also, try not to be so impressed by these feelings, the more you dwell the longer they stay with you.....Jasmine
