I've taken paxil for a while and now I'm taking effexor. I'm getting what I call ticks. They manifest in all different ways. One really annoying way is in my throat. Has anybody else got these before? Can I control them?

I am not sure what you mean about "ticks".

I always thought they were uncontrollable movements...like your head jerking or hands moving without reason.

I never had what you explained here. Maybe talking with your doctor would clarify what is happening in your body and how long you could assume to go through these problems.

I took Paxil for 6 months when I first got off I did have ticks they only lasted for about a week and a half. It was more annoying than anything, plus at the time I had no idea what in the world a tick was so I just knew something was seriously wrong with me. But the strange zapping sensation in my head ended up just being withdrawel I guess because it left after my first week and a half off the med.

Ya, it's really weird. I get the head movement thing too. People sometimes notice it but I just laugh about it. I usually tell them that it's a med reaction. I don't let it bother me too much. They get worse if my diet or sleep has been bad.
