Mistic, Please get in house rehab for this. My son got addicted to codene after he was burned on his back several years ago. WE, however didnt realize it for a long time. i dont know how long youve been taking it, but he took it several years, and used any excuse to get it. You cant just stop taking it either, please get rehab help for helping you stop.
ON a side note, it makes me very angry that doctors give out codene like candy, for any kind of pain someone has. They KNOW how addictive it can become, and there are other pain meds they can prescribe. Its very dangerous to anyone after they have taken it for a small amount of time. Mistic you will be in my prayers, i know it must be hard what your going through, but im glad you came here. Please get professional help for this!!! take care nelly
Nelly is right, please get professional assistance to drop this drug. That codine, oxy is so messed up. I was given codine for my migraines, that is what I use if for and that is NOT often. The doctor warned me about additction, so I get no more than 15 pills at a time. Please get help, you will feel much better. Take care, LizB

Please, please, please get help. My mother died from an accidental overdose of oxicontin and tylenol 4. She died two years ago. It angers me that she was even given the meds. She had an extensive history of med abuse. So many people have died this way. Please get help.

hey there mystic, oxycontin is not even prescribed anymore in some states. it is here in nc. don't understand why. in any case you are going to have to taper off. you body is addicted too. you can get off. you have to do it. you need to be in rehab. but don't go to one that wants you to do it cold turkey. i would go to a docter, and be under his care to taper off.the others are right,it is the most dangerous rx prescribed. good luck, you can do it keep us posted.kp

xoxpaxil, sorry about your mother.that had to be horriable. i was just talking to a friend today about it. she has a friend who is addicted to it too. they gave it to him for back pain he told her he is addicted. he is losing weight, looks really sick.he tried to go without it for one day got so sick, body was shaking. again sorry about your mom,kp
Sometimes the strongest thing we can do is reach out for help...you wrote to us...you asked for help...take one more step...go to the nearest hospital with a rehab unit. I personally don't recommend trying to taper off, let the doctors and therapist help you with that.
